As the COP32 host country, Ethiopia has embarked on early preparations through the formal establishment of the National Steering Committee. We have brought together key leadership to guide this process with clarity and purpose. The Presidency has already commenced its initial tasks, laying the foundation for what must be a coordinated and ambitious effort. Today, I convened the National Steering Committee across sectors to assess progress made so far, identify gaps, and ensure that all efforts remain aligned with our national vision. This platform serves not only as a space for review, but also for collective direction-setting. Our focus is clear: to move forward cohesively, with strong coordination, unified ambition, and a shared commitment to excellence in hosting this global program.

ከግማሽ ክፍለ ዘመን በላይ ኢትዮጵያን በዲፕሎማሲው መስክ ያገለገሉት አምባሳደር ቆንጂት ሥነ ጊዮርጊስ በማረፋቸው የተሰማኝን ኀዘን ለመግለጽ እወዳለሁ። አምባሳደር ቆንጂት ከልጅነት እስከ ዕውቀት ኢትዮጵያን በዲፕሎማትነት በማገልገል፣ ከአምባሳደር ዮዲት እምሩ ቀጥለው ሁለተኛዋ ሴት የኢትዮጵያ አምባሳደር ናቸው። ለሕግ፣ ለአሠራር፣ ለፕሮቶኮል እና ለኢትዮጵያ ጥቅሞች በነበራቸው የጸና አቋም እናስታውሳቸዋለን። ከእርሳቸው በኋላ አያሌ ሴት ዲፕሎማቶች በመስኩ እንዲሠማሩ መንገዱን አስፍተዋል። ለቤተሰቦቻቸው፣ ለሥራ ባልደረቦቻቸው እና ለመላ ኢትዮጵያውያን መጽናናት እመኛለሁ።

Today is the day the sun broke through a sky that had been dark for all of Africa and Black people! It is the day Ethiopia triumphed over invading forces who had encroached upon her borders and violated her sovereignty and her people's freedom on the mountains of Adwa. It is the day Ethiopia preserved civilization, which had remained unviolated for three thousand years. Our fore fathers and fore mothers deserve our utmost respect who through the sacrifice of their blood handed down to us an Ethiopia in which we live with pride, alongside a marvellous civilization, history, and great honour. We, the Ethiopians of today, must sustain the country our ancestors died to build by living in unity and love. Learning from them, we must say ‘No’ to poverty, division, and backward thinking, and transition Ethiopia toward prosperity. The time when Ethiopia becomes even greater than it has ever been, is not far off!

ዛሬ እውነተኛ ባለራዕይን፣ መካሪዬን፣ ወንድሜን እና ውድ የሥራ ባልደረባዬን አማን ፍስሃጽዮንን በማጣቴ ከብዙዎች ጋር ሆኜ በከባድ ሐዘን ውስጥ እገኛለሁ። 💔💔💔 አማን የኢቢኤስ (EBS) ዋና ሥራ አስፈፃሚ ብቻ አልነበረም፤ እርሱ በኢትዮጵያ የሚዲያ አብዮት ውስጥ የልብ ትርታ ነበር። በኢትዮጵያ ታሪኮች ኃያልነት ያምን ነበር፤ ታሪኮቻችንን በክብርና በጥራት እንዲተረኩ መድረኩን አመቻችቷል። የ“TechTalk with Solomon” ስኬት ከአማን የማይናወጥ ድጋፍ ጋር በጥብቅ የተቆራኘ ለመሆኑ እኔ ራሴ ምስክር ነኝ። እርሱ በሥራ መርሃ ግብሩ ላይ የአየር ሰዓት ብቻ አልነበረም የሰጠኝ፤ ለፈጠራና ለቴክኖሎጂ የሚሆን አስተማማኝ መድረክ እንጂ። በእርሱ ድጋፍ በቴክኖሎጂና በማህበረሰባችን መካከል ያለውን ክፍተት ለመሙላትና አዲስ የሚያስብ ትውልድን ለማነሳሳት ችያለሁ። ካሜራዎቹ መቅረጽ ከመጀመራቸው ከብዙ ጊዜ በፊት የእኔን ዓላማ ተረድቶ፣ በታላቅ አመራሩ በአንድ ወቅት በህልሜ ብቻ የማያቸውን ከፍታዎች እንድነካና እንድበቃ ረድቶኛል። ውድ ወንድሜ አማን! አንተ ብቃትና ጥራት የመድረሻ ግብ ብቻ ሳይሆኑ፣ በየቀኑ ልንኖርባቸው የሚገቡ መርሆች መሆናቸውን በተግባር አሳይተኸናል። የአንተ ማለፍ በማንም የሚተካ ባይሆንም፣ ቅርስህ ግን ዕድል በሰጠሃቸው በእያንዳንዱ የፈጠራ ሰዎች ሕይወት ውስጥ ለዘላለም ተጽፎ ይኖራል። አንተ የለኮስከውን ችቦ በኩራት ለመያዝ የተቻለንን ሁሉ እናደርጋለን። አንተ ባሳየኸን ትጉ ስሜትና ታማኝነት ሥራዎቻችንን፣ ፈጠራዎቻችንን እና ታሪኮቻችንን ማቅረብ እንቀጥላለን። ልክ እንደ አንተ መገንባታችንን፣ ማለማችንን እና ድንበሮችን መሻገራችንን አናቆምም። የሥራህ ውጤትና በጎ ተጽዕኖህ ለሚመጡት ትውልዶች ሁሉ ሲዘከር ይኖራል። ነፍስህ በሰላም ትረፍ ወንድሜ! Today, my heart is heavy as I join so many others in mourning the loss of a true visionary, a mentor, a brother, and a dear colleague, Aman Fissehazion. 💔💔💔 Aman wasn't just the CEO of EBS; he was the heartbeat of a media revolution. He believed in the power of Ethiopian stories and gave us the platform to tell them with dignity and excellence. I can be the witness thay the success of “TechTalk with Solomon” is inextricably linked to Aman’s unwavering support. He didn't just provide a slot on a schedule; he provided a home for innovation. Because that, I have been able to bridge the gap between technology and our community, inspiring a new generation of thinkers. He saw the potential in my mission long before the cameras started rolling, and his leadership allowed me to thrive and reach heights I once only dreamed of. This massive $12.5BN new airport is currently under construction in Ethiopia. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects for Africa's largest carrier Ethiopian Airlines Group, phase one of Bishoftu International is set to serve 60 million passengers a year, with capacity rising to 110 million passengers (through four runways) once all subsequent phases are built. The airport sits around 40km south of Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa and has been primarily designed as a transit hub – it's expected that some 80% of passengers arriving will board connecting flights without leaving the building. We, Ethiopians, Achieved Centuries-Old Dreams Today, we are on the eve of the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) that marks the realization of a vision held by generations of Ethiopians. For centuries, the people of Ethiopia have dreamed of harnessing the power of the Abbay (Blue Nile) to fuel national development, energize transformation and improve livelihoods. This monumental project, finally coming to fruition, symbolizes our national pride and sovereignty. It is a testament to Ethiopia’s determination to utilize its natural resources responsibly and equitably for the benefit of its citizens and the broader region. We Have Not Achieved This Result Overnight but Overcome Numerous Odds! The journey to this moment has been long and challenging. Ethiopia faced international skepticism, economic constraints, and geopolitical pressures from various quarters. Technical challenges, security concerns, and complex negotiations with downstream countries added layers of complexity. Despite all these obstacles, our steadfast commitment, resilience, and innovative spirit enabled the country to progress forward and reach this historic milestone. The GERD stands not only as an engineering marvel but as a symbol of overcoming adversity through perseverance. As we have been all along saying, it is built with Ethiopian sweat and blood to benefit not only #Ethiopia, but also the people of African in the region to access clean energy including multiple benefits to immediate downstream countries. Congratulations to All Fellow Ethiopians who made this possible and those friends of Ethiopia and Africa’s development for enduring support.

RIP to the legendary Sebastião Salgado, his lens captured the world’s soul

On March 1, 2019, Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 302, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, crashed, claiming 157 lives. 10th March 2025, on the 6th anniversary, a memorial at the crash site, designed through a competition, has been completed to honor the victims. #ET302 📷: @aronsimeneh
