He picked up on the second ring, said hello, and as soon as I said “hey this is Shawn from AfghanEvac” that dude straight hung up on me.

My father was under surveillance and severe limitations about where he could live as a sex offender, after completing the prison term & treatments to which he was sentenced.
They limited his post-release opportunities and life to such an extent that he killed himself.

My father died by suicide on Monday.
He loved my brother and me deeply, and supported me in all endeavors. He would reliably bail me out when I screwed up or was struggling. As he said in the note he left us, he wanted to be, and tried to be, a good person.
