More highlights from #ASHA23. @TimSLP, @aroseboucher and Jennifer Maietta modeled the use of an #ImpSci framework to support school-based partnerships and graduate clinic programs. Lots of applicable takeaways from their session!

Great work by @TimSLP and colleagues on how school professionals vary in defining language disorders. Strong need for increased training on #DevLangDis and #Dyslexia so school professionals can better support these students.

Overwhelmed by words spoken by students at the ceremony and the intergenerational joy that radiated from the stage. What a gift to be present and share in this celebration!

If we’re serious as a field about recognizing that disability is created at the intersection of a person’s abilities and environmental demands, then we have to get serious about creating tools to measure more than just the person’s abilities.

@AAdamsSanabria I don’t know if this is exactly what you’re thinking of, but I’ve done barrier analyses of the environment and/or curriculum using UDL + knowledge of speech and language disorders. If that sounds helpful, happy to chat more.

What tools exist currently to measure the environment in a way that would be informative to the diagnostic process? Curious if others have ideas.

@sarahgroh Yep. And amoxicillin. Could only get my kid a half dose from the pharmacy and was told to call back in five days to see if I could get the rest for his 10 day prescription.
