Am I saying that I may have the gift of prophecy? No, of course not. I am merely saying that, when I go on the job market, the possibility that I do is maybe something that cannot be definitively discounted by hiring departments.

@fulyafelicity vaccination isn't honor system, you have to submit proof of booster status. the 'wellness check' is a joke though, yeah absolutely.

@aross005 I'm also in disbelief, given that there's no reduced classroom capacity, no free at-home tests, vending machines with tests and ppe, vaccination, and test rules are all based on 'honor' system and 'wellness' survey. Risks and trade-offs are real, but so is risk management.

really surprised UCR actually put us back in person. thought for sure the whole quarter was gonna be online.

in conclusion:

there's clearly an inflection point of risk above which those costs are worth paying and below they aren't. but not only do we not agree on what that point is, we disagree on where we even are on the scale, because the data is messy.
