4th grade has been using the Creative Questions thinking routine to look at works by Deborah Roberts. Check out their interesting questions. #HFBallstars

Very proud of these 2nd grade artists in Ms. Smith’s class that we’re brave enough to try drawing from observation. We talked about how looking at something 3D and drawing it on a flat 2D surface is HARD! It’s important to be gentle with ourselves and really notice the lines.

The white board in art studio 217 has been housing many amazing ideas around what artists draw. We landed on a few main categories. Artists draw what they SEE, REMEMBER, IMAGINE, and FEEL. It’s an idea we can go back to to get drawing ideas. #HFBallstars #HFBtweets

Ms. Ramirez’s 2nd graders continued drawings from last week and tried drawing what they see. We’ve been talking about different things artists draw. Drawing from imagination is great, and challenging yourself to draw what you see can help you draw what you imagine even better.

2nd grade completed their landscapes & now we get to do some one day projects to try out some different techniques. Today Ms. Smith’s class made some torn paper landscapes. #HFBallstars @2ndHfb

Last year I had a poster club where students could collaborate and create posters. This year we’re continuing that work with a “Design Team.” These 4th graders submitted ideas for ways to design for the better. So excited to have our first meeting tomorrow.

Amazing work from 4th grade- We talked about how it’s okay to “steal like an artist” and be inspired by others as long as you tell your own story and learned about how sometimes the path forward reveals itself after we are brave enough to start somewhere. #HFBAllstars

4th Grade Circles Warm-up - Sketchbook rules: use the next blank page, put the date, KEEP all your pages. Learning to use a sketchbook to practice, record ideas, try out new things and see how much you grow. @HFB4thGrade @HFBAllStars
