Linux users are just build different



Everyone learned to wipe passwords before free(). for years, the compiler quietly removed it. not because it was broken because it proved nobody would read those bytes again. security lost to optimization until C23 finally gave us memset_explicit().






People overstate how much text-editors like vim/emacs matter to their workflow. Many of those folks (not all) love them because they make using a text-editor "fun". I don't want my tools to be "fun". I want my tools to be invisible.

Signed overflow has been undefined behavior since C89. It took until C23 to get a standard way to check for it without committing it first.

Emacs is a war crime against the unix philosophy. It does everything and nothing well. If you see it as a lisp interpreter, let me ask you one question: Does python have a fucking email client, text editor and shell built in?
