so-called "free thinkers" when the emerge log says: "run 'emerge --oneshot sys-apps/portage' now."

@straceX i FUCKING hate C tooling C syntax i love, C control i love, C the language i love; BUT BROTHER; THE COMPILER IS MEANT TO DO WHAT I SAY, "errmm but I/O of the program is the same" SO IS HARDCODING A RESULT OR INVOKING AN EXISTING TOOL, THATS NOT THE POINT OF BEING EXPLICIT

Everyone learned to wipe passwords before free(). for years, the compiler quietly removed it. not because it was broken because it proved nobody would read those bytes again. security lost to optimization until C23 finally gave us memset_explicit().

@vicsohier I want to be able to program tools I use and have ability to customize it to whichever degree it is possible, even if I would just use the defaults and leave almost everything in place like I do now.

@artsi0m You misunderstand his point. The tools shouldn't be the fun part. The activity should be the fun part. If your tools facilitate the activity for you, who cares? There is a reason why he pushes the joy of *programming*, not the joy of using a text editor.

Programminginc chat but it is actually about C++ and everyone is constantly seething about how C is a bad weekly typed language XD

#DESCRIPTION" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">man.openbsd.org/clang-local#DE… «The -fwrapv option to treat signed integer overflows as defined is enabled by default to prevent dangerous optimizations which could remove security critical overflow checks» Someone was decade ahead with it right? Anyway Linux Kernel does it too.
Strace@straceX

Signed overflow has been undefined behavior since C89. It took until C23 to get a standard way to check for it without committing it first.

I have been working on this blog post for an embarrassingly long time. While the thought of CTFs depressed me during most of this time period, I'm more hopeful now. I think what made the scene so beautiful to me will persist. I can't wait to show you all what we have in store.
Robert Chen@NotDeGhost

We're launching a $100,000 fund to save CTFs.
