Hey there Everyone, To be clear, Paris Blockchain Week lied to our faces. Directly to our faces, in their offices in Paris. They told us, Paris Blockchain Week has rented (“privatized”) the Louvre Museum They said that the Louvre Museum had an event rental area, for the conference and that they were excited for us to come in as their “Art Partner” This was all offered to us, less than 1 month before the conference. We said very clearly, “if it will get our artists the opportunity to show their work in the Louvre Museum, we will move heaven and earth” And they smiled. As soon as we left the meeting, we called @clairesilver, whom we love and believe in- to share what we had been led to believe was a incredible opportunity to show work to many many people within the halls- as part of Web3’s participation in the historic location. The reality is that Paris Blockchain Week did not represent the details and facts in that meeting, or any meeting we had afterwards. The space they have rented for the conference area is NOT IN ANY WAY AFFILIATED with the Louvre, it is merely next door and somehow shares a name. We learned all of this via Twitter, not once being told the proper details by PWB until we brought it to their attention. We spent the last few days, trying to understand the actual facts and communicate with PWB to potentially work together and make good on their word- but that has proven impossible. Their lack of clarity, transparency and respect for the arts has damaged us all- when this could have been something really special. They didn’t have to over promise, we would have been excited to be next door to the Louvre- but presenting this as one thing and reality being another, is completely unacceptable. THAT ALL SAID- We are cancelling our participation with Paris Blockchain Week We are incredibly saddened to see the stress this has caused one of our favorite artists and friends We will be reviewing the fine print on any opportunity that is presented to us, before believing or repeating. (no matter what is said in a meeting with leadership of any kind.) (Worth noting, PWB did not present fine print for us to review) And we offer our sincere apologies to any and everyone who has been impacted by this. We truly, deeply believe in the future of Claire Silver’s career and will be working twice as hard as before to find legitimate opportunities for her to shine on a level that she deserves.
