A visionary hundred-year literary project asks writers to trust in a world of readers they will never see. The trees of a forest planted in 2014 will become pages of an anthology that will only be printed in 2114. Each year, a prominent writer contributes a manuscript that shall remain unread until then. Conceived by artist Kate Paterson and curated by Anne Beate Hovind, urban developer and public art curator, The Future Library is a century-long project of trust, imagination, and literary timekeeping. She is joined by Ranjit Hoskote, poet, cultural theorist and curator, Vivek Shanbhag, Kannada writer and founder of Hyphen, and Emma House, co-founder of Publishers Without Borders and renowned publishing consultant. Together they discuss what it means to plant stories for readers a hundred years away and to expand our sense of literary and ecological time. Join them at Jaipur Literature Festival 2026, presented by Vedanta.
