@OmegaLiberal @VarierAravind Everything is a show in politics. If its a show, why not BJP says they reject the idea of Hindu Rastra. They have problem if some broom stick sized party in some corner talks about Islamic India, why not the vice versa be allowed? India is for Indians of all religions or none

this is such a bad reading of the situation. bjp only says they want a Hindu rashtra. It's not taking away any rights from its minority. They also talk about akhand bharat but have you ever seen India aggress over some territory? It's all just for show. It doesn't translate to policy.

My advice to the BJP, if they want to win double-digit seats in Kerala:👇🏻 The top leadership of the BJP should openly say that they want the Republic of India to be a secular state rather than a theocratic state (Hindu Rashtra), in the same way that the top leadership of the IUML openly say they want the Republic of India to be a secular state rather than a theocratic state (Islamic Rashtra) NOTE: Both IUML and the BJP are religious political parties. However, the IUML is a secular political party because its top leadership openly REJECTS a theocratic state (Islamic Rashtra), whereas the BJP is NOT a secular political party because its top leadership openly ENDORSES a theocratic state (Hindu Rashtra).

@labstamil What advice would you give to BJP to win in Kerala and TN?

@DearthOfSid Well, other blind Commiebhakts it's all well known that Govindan Master has been handpicked by Prinu and placed there... Hardly any democratic process exists in CPM which is something well known. Kodiyeri was also handpicked, but he is he a diplomat and has his own aura.

@arunmohanother I am not suggesting anything, I simply pointed out my understanding of how this process works in CPI(M). As for the current party secretary, he is appointed by a Party Congress after a structured democratic process. There are no “supremos” in a cadre party.

@DearthOfSid @OmarAbbasHyat Almost all GS of Kerala CPM leaders were primarily mass leaders who had massive pan Kerala appeal and able to influence the society enlarge, not just party cadres, be it VS, EK, Kodiyeri or even PV. MV could be the first GS who can't even inspire his own party cadres

@OmarAbbasHyat The Left parties in Kerala don’t have any special processes, they work within the same structure of their national parties. The party congress happens every 3 years where official posts are selected. The last was in 2025, the next should be in 2028. All this is common knowledge.

@VarierAravind Use of elephant, right to procession etc are one among 72 privileges granted to many Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities during Chera empire as they were holding princely/nobility titles... these all are 1500 years old traditions

Using caparisoned elephants is a Kerala tradition embraced by Malayali Hindus, Malayali Christians, and Malayali Muslims to celebrate their festivals, and it is NOT an exclusive tradition of Malayali Hindus. Example: Malayali Muslims also practice the Kerala tradition of using caparisoned elephants for their festivals.👇🏻

The political landscape of Kerala is different from that of other states because Malayalis never give a majority to a single political party in assembly elections. It is impossible for any single political party, including the CPI(M) and the INC, to form a government on its own, and this is exactly why we have had coalitions of political parties, namely the LDF and the UDF, for many decades and continue to do so to this day. The maximum vote share that the BJP received at the height of its popularity in Kerala was around 16% during the 2024 parliamentary elections, and in the 2026 assembly elections, it was reduced to around 12%. People also forget the fact that CPI(M) Kerala is the de facto Hindu political party that has played a key role in reforming Hinduism in the state, unlike the CPI(M) in other states, which mostly acted as a political party of the upper castes and was therefore easier to be replaced by another political party.
The Kaipullai@thekaipullai

In the 2016 Bengal Assembly Elections, BJP won 3 seats In 2021, BJP won 77 In 2026 the same BJP is winning 204 seats and is on the way to a total majority They went from 3 to 200 in 2 election cycles in a state where they were virtually non-existent till 10 years ago. They went from nobodies to forming the govt in 10 years. I don't think this has happened in Bengal or Indian electoral history. The Opposition has to understand that the BJP is an electoral machine that they have never seen before. They play the long game and they play it well. If they are still not comprehending what they are up against, they will be steamrolled sooner or later. P:S: In the 2026 Kerala Assembly Elections, BJP is currently winning 3 seats.

@Ramakri16814344 @HarishVJ640693 @VarierAravind Not much. A good percentage CPM MLAs were in age bracket of 40-50, with second tier leadership well visible. Last time they focused to get more younger leaders. So its not an issue. The rise of one person culture negated the grooming of younger leaders in LDF

@DearthOfSid Many states have seen that, last minute change in leadership to reduce anti incumbency. Every kid knows this govt had anti incumbency. Atleast after panchayat elections, it should be known. A fresh face would have reduced.

@arunmohanother Removing the CM prior to Panchayat election? What are you even saying? Yes, there was a potential strategy to not field PV in 2026 and instead project a new leader (Shailaja was a great choice) but we can only speculate in retrospect if that would have changed the results.

Reading the Kerala verdict as a defeat of Pinarayi Vijayan’s personality (darshtyam, kadakku purath, veettil poyi chodicha mathi etc) reflects a performative liberal tendency to personalise political analysis where style, tone and image outweigh actual governance & policymaking.

@DearthOfSid Previously CPM leadership has its own independent powers, so they used to intervene and control CMs. Now CPM got hijacked by PV cult and one supreme leader attitude. So no one to rectify. And no diplomatic leadership like Kodeyeri to pacify cadres.

@DearthOfSid Every leadership style has expiry. PV leadership in normal case would cause anti incumbency fast as no self respecting Malayalee will tolerate this level of arrogance. But he excelled as a crisis manager in those difficult times and rewarded one more term. Now there is no crisis

@DearthOfSid If there was some common sense in CPM, they would have removed Pinararyi atleast prior to Panchayat elections and have a female CM like Shailaja to attract lady votes. It could have reduced the anti incumbency in big way. Anyone with common sense knows Veena George will fail

@DearthOfSid The inability to understand the pulse of audience is also a CPM problem. The personality trait of the CM reflects lack of people connection that Pinarayi now has. Anti incumbency is common, but have u seen any measures to reduce it like ministerial reshuffle or new faces.

@HarishVJ640693 @VarierAravind CPM in opposition is much more better force than CPM in power. Because the power of CPM is its ability to mobilize people. It lost that mobilization power especially in LDF 2.0, so lost that people connect part. Now it has to do it again, so nothing much into that

@bitcoinmalayali @VarierAravind Right to protest is a fundamental right and it was granted because employees need such rights. It only helps companies to be more focused on ensuring employment. 2006-2011 period saw no loss of mandays in IT Sector. So what are you talking about

The Communist Party is still relevant as a dominant political force in Kerala because Pinarayi Vijayan has ensured that the Overton window has shifted to a pro-business stance from the anti-business narrative created by old-school communists like V. S. Achuthanandan and E. K. Nayanar. NOTE: Communist parties would become completely irrelevant in Kerala if they try to repeat the same old anti-business rhetoric while in opposition in the name of reviving their FAILED ideology.
wazim durden ☭@thallumaalaka

i say this as a communist but the communist party truly will breathe its last breath unless it commits to the ideology and stops playing electoral power games. ballot victories come after ideological ones. what have we done to radicalise the youth against neoliberalism? zilch.

@bitcoinmalayali @VarierAravind When VS govt came, IT exports from Kerala was just 76 crore. When he left in 2011 it was around 2700 crore. Did govt did that or pvt companies. I still remember how fast he commissioned Infopark expressway and 3 new complex in Infopark.

@bitcoinmalayali @VarierAravind Are u saying right to strike or organise a crime? Woww.. Its something paramount. But did that stopped Infopark or Technopark? Infact the entire Infopark grew like anything during VS time. The entire concept of decentralised IT parks came under him. 4 new IT parks came that time

@VarierAravind EK Nayanar played a key role in changing attitude of CPM to more pro Computerization and private entity unlike usual CPM leaders of that time. He gave push to final stages of CIAL, India's first PPP airport and india's first hospitality PPP ventures with Taj Hotels.
