I am delighted to announce publication of my research article on 'Exclusion of Pasmanda Muslims and Dalit Christians from the SCs Quota'. It debunks false narratives which have been spread through Rangnath Mirsa Committee Report about Scheduled Castes. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/02…

Dr. Udit Raj@Dr_Uditraj

Judicial corruption can be of several kinds. Judges taking bribe is more direct. But then we have judges who abused adjudicatory or administrative powers for whatever reasons. That's also judicial corruption. NCERT proceeding is a dark day for the court! Enabled by bar! Shameful

@MilanV This very important issue to be researched. I still remember that there was huge enthusiasm for watching Ramayana in mid 1990s, but this does not automatically translated in the voting. Even in Ayodhya/ Faizabad district, it could not gain huge electoral success.

How the Supreme Court Deals with Corruption Cases Involving Judges and Lawyers I had an opportunity to appear before the Supreme Court in a case involving a senior lawyer who allegedly collected Rs. 7 crore from clients to manage a judge and obtain a favourable order. Instead of securing a favourable order, the matter was dismissed for default. The clients demanded their money back, upon which the lawyer allegedly threatened them. However, due to intense pressure, he returned part of the money. The clients then lodged a criminal complaint. After investigation, the police found substance in the allegations. There are eyewitnesses to support the case. The senior lawyer filed a quashing petition challenging the FIR. The High Court refused to quash the FIR but granted him protection from arrest until the chargesheet was filed. This order was contrary to the judgments of the Supreme Court. Therefore, the clients approached the Supreme Court, which issued notice. Subsequently, the senior lawyer also approached the Supreme Court seeking quashing of the FIR, despite a delay of a few days. The Supreme Court decided to entertain his petition as well. During the hearing, the Court orally observed on two occasions that it was contemplating quashing the FIR. This created intense pressure on the clients and on me as their counsel. Given the seriousness of the allegations, I did not press the matter aggressively. Eventually, both petitions were dismissed. However, the Court granted further protection to the accused senior lawyer. The Supreme Court directed that the trial court should grant him bail upon filing of the chargesheet. In several judgments, the Supreme Court has held that once a quashing petition is dismissed, no protection should ordinarily be granted. In another matter concerning the registration of an FIR against Judge Varma, formerly of the Delhi High Court and now of the Allahabad High Court, against whom removal proceedings have been initiated by Parliament, the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Gavai reprimanded the counsel appearing in the case. The Court stated that the counsel should uphold the dignity of the judge by addressing him as “Justice” and even asked a counter-question, “Is he your friend?”

This person is Surinder Manhas, a renowned folk singer from J-K. He used to sing religious songs and was a winner of several musical awards but lost his life in 2023 due to a serious kidney disease. The family tried to help him with every possible treatment but he could not be saved. We had even started a fund raiser to seek funds to fund for his treatment back then but fate took a nasty turn. He has left behind a wife and 2 children-a boy aged 18 & a girl aged 16.The girl studies in a private school and the boy has completed B.Com. The family is in dire need of money to fund the education of the children. They are even finding it difficult to run the house and meet with daily expenses like fooding, electricity bill, gas bill payment. I have tried contacting bureaucrats, politicians and J-K based NGOs but haven’t received any response from any quarter. Social media is my only hope now because when the system fails, society helps. Can anyone please help me connect with someone who can help fund the children’s education? Can we as a society  help these children?
