Agraharam Agraharam, old time residential structures, where brahmins and scholars reside, by the village streets of South india, mainly in the vicinity of temple. For the purpose of temple management and to support vedic traditions, agraharam still shines despite evolution and modern structures.

Central Government’s move on Delhi Gymkhana Club is not merely an administrative decision. It is a long-overdue correction of Delhi’s most entitled drawing-room ecosystem. My family lived for nearly 27 to 30 years right opposite the Gymkhana Club, at the Government bungalow, 4 Safdarjung Lane. My late father Shrikant Verma and my late mother Veena Verma were both Members of Parliament, and yet neither they nor I ever found this sick place worthy of becoming members. That itself says enough. For decades, such spaces functioned like private republics of inherited privilege, where surnames mattered more than merit, access was treated like ancestry, and public land became the comfort zone of a self-appointed elite. The so-called “elitist club culture” slowly became a museum of nepotism, colonial hangover and social gatekeeping. The same people who lecture India on democracy suddenly panic when privilege is asked to vacate the lawn. National interest must always stand above cocktail entitlement. Delhi does not belong to closed circles, legacy surnames and old-boy networks. It belongs to the Republic of India. Well done, Central Government. Some clubs needed reform. Some needed eviction. This one clearly needed both.

DELHI GYMKHANA CLUB. THE LAST VESTIGE OF COLONIAL INDIA AND THE REDOUBT OF BABALOG (LUTYENS) PRIVILEGE, NEPOTISM IS NOW GOING TO BE CLAIMED BY THE CENTRE. Centre Moves to Take Back Delhi Gymkhana Club Land, Cites Defence and Public Security Needs In a significant move, the Central Government has ordered the re-entry and resumption of the Delhi Gymkhana Club premises located at 2, Safdarjung Road, New Delhi, stating that the land is required for urgent public and strategic purposes. The order was issued on May 22, 2026, by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs through the Land & Development Office (L&DO). The government stated that the property, spread across 27.3 acres, lies in a highly sensitive and strategic area of the national capital and is now needed for strengthening defence infrastructure, public security arrangements, governance infrastructure, and other public-interest projects. According to the communication, the premises had originally been leased to the Imperial Delhi Gymkhana Club Ltd., now known as Delhi Gymkhana Club Ltd., for the purpose of maintaining a social and sporting club. The Delhi Gymkhana Club is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs in India. The club shifted to its present location in 1913 and was then known as the “Imperial Delhi Gymkhana Club”, with Spencer Harcourt Butler serving as its first President. After India attained Independence in 1947, the word “Imperial” was dropped and the institution came to be known simply as the Delhi Gymkhana Club. The club traces its origins to July 1913. In its early years, the Polo Club functioned as part of the Gymkhana Club before becoming a separate entity in the 1930s after shifting to New Delhi. Historical records relating to the club’s origins are limited, and systematic documentation of its history is understood to have begun only around 1927. Referring to Clause 4 of the lease deed, the Centre noted that the lessor has the authority to re-enter the premises if the land is required for a public purpose. Exercising those powers, the President of India, acting through the L&DO, has determined the lease and ordered immediate re-entry of the property. The order further states that the entire land parcel, along with all buildings, structures, lawns and fittings standing on it, shall vest absolutely with the President of India through the Land & Development Office. The Land & Development Office is scheduled to take over the premises on June 5, 2026. The Delhi Gymkhana Club has been directed to hand over peaceful possession of the property on the said date, failing which possession would be taken in accordance with law. The communication was signed by Deputy Land & Development Officer Suchit Goyal and issued with the approval of the competent authority.

Sir, I salute the ITBP Commandant who practically turned the Kanpur Commissionerate into an ITBP cantonment for the sake of one jawan’s justice. At that moment, perhaps he did not think even for a second about his promotion, his career, or future postings. He stood like a true leader beside his men. That is the spirit. That is the bond every force dreams of. Sadly, many Indian Army officers today seem to have forgotten the strength, authority and moral power their uniform once represented. Some people will now bring up that old video of an Army Colonel surrounding a police station and saying, “Don’t touch my boy.” Yes, that happened once. But the painful reality today is that many officers no longer want to risk their careers. Too many are trapped between ambition, bureaucracy, and dreams of post-retirement positions. The truth is uncomfortable: the system respects power not sacrifice. And when patriots are humiliated while corrupt networks thrive under protection, anger is inevitable. With due respect, sir, even many senior officers today have quietly accepted this culture. The fire that once made officers stand fearlessly for their men is fading. That is why what the ITBP officers did feels extraordinary to the public. A force becomes truly powerful not only because of weapons or training, but because its men know their officers will stand beside them when the system refuses to listen. Respect to the ITBP Commandant Gaurav. @AdityaRajKaul @adgpi @PMOIndia @SushilS27538625 @LtGenDPPandey

A law student in Chandigarh ordered 1 kg Nagpur oranges on Swiggy Instamart. He also paid ₹28.61 as a "handling fee." Swiggy's promise: timely and damage-free delivery. What arrived: torn packaging. 824 grams of oranges. 176 grams short. The bag was ripped open. He raised it immediately on chat support. He called customer care. He sent screenshots. No refund. No replacement. No response. He went to consumer court. Swiggy argued: "We are only an intermediary. Not our responsibility." The court rejected that entirely. The invoice listed Swiggy as the seller. Swiggy was held liable. Swiggy's valuation at last funding: ~$15 billion. They charged a customer ₹28.61 for "damage-free delivery." Then delivered damaged goods and ghosted him. Save this. They're watching. (Case: Raja Vikrant Sharma v. Swiggy Ltd. & Instamart, Chandigarh District Commission)

You’re standing on a planet with molten lava at its core. Trees are turning sunlight into air you can breathe. Your heart is beating without you asking it to. There’s a moon in the sky and bugs that glow. This whole thing is absurdly beautiful. Don’t forget to notice it.

Baba Amte. Came from so rich a family that he was given a sports car as soon as he could drive. Moved out of his rich home and founded institutions to take care of lepers, disabled and marginalised. Helped them to recover and get training for jobs. Got himself injected with leprosy bacilli to prove that it was not contagious. Led a spartan life and fought corruption. Spoke out for the environment and sustainable development. Married and gave birth to amazing kids who became doctors (Prakash Amte, Vikas Amte) who are carrying forward his work even more meaningfully. But. Did not collect billions of dollars and make them disappear into a black hole. Did not convert the poor to any religion or tell them death by suffering was good for them. Was not conferred sainthood. You will not find photos of him kissing children and hugging lepers all over the internet. This is a copy-paste of my 2016 post. facebook.com/photo?fbid=101…

After West Bengal win, I hope government now launches a helpline number where I can report illegal Bangladeshis living in my area? I see them everywhere- selling vegetables, security guards, gardeners etc. U.S has a 24x7 helpline to report illegals. Why don't we have one?
