People who cheat in video games cause so much grief to other players, but also to the devs who are mostly helpless to solve the problems they are so painfully aware of. It's insanely expensive for devs to keep up with traditional tactics. We need modern solutions to cheating. Cheat developers are absolutely dominating anti-cheat developers. There's just not enough perceived incentive for studios to spend the multi-million dollar price tag to ACTIVELY combat the problem. The studios that do this well (who I won't name here) spend tens of millions of dollars to stay ahead. Popular games that have a surprise success struggle to do anything but fight from behind. This is particularly true for FPS games. Between the modern hard to detect external DMA scanning hardware (ex. PCIe / M.2 Screamers), and the more recent AI assisted aimbots, the anti-cheat solutions of yesterday are quickly going from meh to worthless. Conservative estimates suggest that 25% of the players in an FPS game are cheating. That's an insane number, and I guarantee you that a significant chunk of those players turned to the dark side because they adopted a "if you can't beat em ... join em" attitude. AI is the rooted in the future of this problem, but it could also be part of the solution. I'd like to call on all gamers who are fed up with this shit to make your voice loud. Tell the developers who made your core game to invest in solutions. If you have a big brain (unlike myself) and have the means to work in the AI space ... this is a fantastic business opportunity. Please like and retweet this if you agree and think it's time for this fight to be taken more seriously.
