@ikwilson how long do YOU think we need to tolerate all of Danielle Smith’s incompetence, lies and broken promises before we show her the door? Why do YOU believe that even if we win the referendum to have a referendum that she will actually give us a referendum after all of her broken promises to date? Why do YOU excuse her for lying about the “courts” preventing her from calling the question under s. 1 of the Referendum Act when YOU know this is a lie? Asking for a friend.
Jeffrey Rath@JeffreyRWRath

Dear Premier Smith, A referendum to have a referendum… after two justices told you, you could call Mitch Sylvestre’s question under Section 1 of the Referendum Act is hardly decisive or honest leadership. On Thursday you lied to everyone in Alberta when you falsely claimed you couldn’t use either Lukaszuk’s question or Mitch’s question because of “the courts”. The courts in fact said the opposite. Chief Alan Adam had his picture taken SIGNING the Lukaszuk petition. How would he oppose THAT question. The simple fact is that you promised Mark Carney that there wouldn’t be a vote on independence this year. By stabbing 301,620 of YOUR VOTERS in the back you delivered on the promise as part of the package to sell out Alberta for a Chinese pipeline to Asia. No binary choice for Albertans as you promised. Only political sleight of hand. You have lost the ability to refer to yourself as “Right Honourable” . You have lost the moral authority to lead the UCP. Please resign. Sincerely, Jeffrey R.W. @ericnuttall On point Eric, the endless nauseating decade long discussions about pipelines and no end in sight is why Alberta wants out. It’s actually quite simple. We want to get away from the stupid people.

The UAE is building a ~1.4MM Bbl/d, 370km pipeline costing ~$4BN USD, started in 2025 and onstream in 2027. Canada aims to potentially build a 1MM Bbl/d pipeline, to cost ~$40BN, take 8+years, and is tying it to an obsolete/costly $30BN Pathways project. See the difference???

If the cost of a new 1MM Bbl/d pipeline is Pathways, a $30BN project conceived in a vastly different world that erodes our competitiveness, then I say nay. It took me 4 hours to get my 6 year old an ankle x-ray last night...we do not have to live like this, yet choose to. Sad.

@Realcoinforge I wouldn’t characterize it as an insane breakout, but yes, it’s following that pattern almost to a T, although a bit accelerated in comparison

🇺🇸 PALANTIR IS REPEATING THE 2016 TESLA PLAYBOOK RIGHT NOW. Most people have given up on $PLTR, but it’s gearing up for an insane breakout. Just like Tesla broke out of a bull flag in 2016, Palantir will do the exact same. Most people are so focused on this being a bubble. So focused that they will miss the obvious moves. Focus on what the chart is telling you right now. Not on speculation.

@ubbergenius To be certain, I haven’t reviewed it in detail but 375 financial transfers from the federal government to the Mikisew FN or some agency affiliated to it. There is some pretty serious money going to a reserve with 175 people on it. Source data is here; search.open.canada.ca/cache//search_…

Bizarre decision. Government must consult with First Nations over how the government consults with its citizens even though mere consultation with voters via a petition process or a referendum process DOES NOT infringe any Treaty Right or any other legal rights. Justice Leonard might just as well have quashed a decision of Canada Post to deliver a letter to an MLA demanding that the Premier call an Independence vote under Referendum Act. Maybe she should issue an injunction against the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission for not stopping citizens from voicing their opinions about Alberta Independence online ? It was another purely political decision from yet another federally appointed judge trying to prevent Albertans from voting on Independence.

Amazing that an Alberta Court struck down the Albertan separation petition on the basis they didn’t consult with indigenous communities, while Canadian courts simultaneously ignored indigenous groups claiming the federal government couldn’t slaughter the B.C. ostriches because it was on unceded indigenous land. Motivation is the master of reason. And the Canadian government and court system is a hypocritical criminal organization.

@ABDanielleSmith High Carbon Taxes, CO2 sequestration and Net Zero policies are all harmful and brutally expensive globalist frauds. Alberta should not be forced to obey these garbage policies to develop our economy. Fire Ottawa. Free Alberta.

@ABDanielleSmith BRAGGING about increasing federal taxes and the federal government forcing a 50 billion dollar “decarbonization” “precondition” on Albertans. Her presser with Carney was complete gaslighting. As long as Alberta “remains in Canada” there will never be enough private investment in Alberta to fill a new pipeline with increased production let alone finding anyone foolish enough to invest. Ralph Klein must be rolling over in his grave. What an embarrassing day for Alberta.

"Duty to Consult" in Canada In Mikisew Cree First Nation v. Canada (2018 SCC 40), the Supreme Court ruled that the Crown’s constitutional duty to consult (and accommodate) Indigenous groups on potential impacts to section 35 Aboriginal/treaty rights applies only to executive action (e.g., permits, approvals, regulatory decisions), and not to legislative action (e.g., developing, introducing, or passing bills in Parliament or legislatures). Key distinction: Executive: Duty triggered (Haida Nation test). Legislative: No duty - even if the law will clearly affect rights. Courts avoid interfering in the law-making process. This preserves parliamentary sovereignty and separation of powers. Consultation during law-making is encouraged as good policy but not legally required. 1/

Judge ruling against the democratic participation of 301,620 Albertans is really what the movement needed. People needed to see how far gone our institutions are, now they know what we are up against.

Rosie Barton declared 'let's get ready to rumble' and hyped a rock 'em sock 'em premier royale: East vs. West, premiers vs. Carney CBC, the great divider strikes again Canada urgently needs GDP growth. A pipeline would deliver the fastest results. Yet Rosie and Davey seem intent on pitting premier against premier, East against West, and everyone against each other Just another typical CBC spectacle from two CBC egomaniacs fanning the flames of separation and division
