@Thuranira_1 True. The SOA was enacted with the male perpetrator in mind, not the male victim.

Today, the Law Society of Kenya, led by President Charles Kanjama SC, Vice President Teresia Wavinya and AML Committee Convener and Council Member Mr. Aseso Omollo, held a consultative meeting at the Financial Reporting Centre (FRC)offices together with the Director General, Mr. Naftali Rono, alongside their respective teams.
The meeting focused on key issues affecting legal practice, regulation and compliance, particularly in relation to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Countering Proliferation Financing (CPF).
Both institutions expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration and progress achieved in previous years, and reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining and strengthening this cooperative relationship in the coming term.
The Law Society of Kenya further committed to advancing compliance within the legal sector in line with the existing statutory and regulatory frameworks.

Today, at the Law Society of Kenya’s Annual General Meeting held at Sisu Hotel, Machakos, the newly elected Council Members were officially sworn into office, marking a significant moment of transition, renewal, and commitment to service.
The ceremony was a powerful affirmation of the Society’s dedication to upholding the rule of law, strengthening the bar, and advancing justice for all. As the new Council assumes its mandate, it carries with it the trust and expectations of members across the country—to lead with integrity, courage, and a steadfast commitment to the profession.
Congratulations to the incoming Council as they embark on this important journey of leadership and service.

I presided over the @LawSocietyofKe 2026 Annual General Meeting in Machakos earlier today. At the end of the meeting, I witnessed the swearing in of @ckanjama and the 2026-2028 Council, and handed over the instruments of the presidency to the 52nd President.
It has been an honour serving the Law Society of Kenya and the Country. I wish Senior Counsel and his team well in their tour of service.

Honored to attend the AGM of the Law Society of Kenya at Sisu Hotel. A humbling moment as we mark our final AGM as Council Members. Grateful for the opportunity to serve and proud of the journey. The future of our profession remains bright. #LSK #Leadership #Service

@twavinya I understand that some lady Justices in Nigeria still insist on being referred to as Lordships.

History has a sense of humour.
There was a time when calling a woman “Mr.” at the Bar was considered respectful. It meant she was being treated as counsel of equal standing, her authority recognised without qualification. Early female advocates were sometimes addressed this way to avoid sounding junior or informal. It was less about gender, more about rank as seen with Helena Normanton.
So when the plaque at our flag-off refers to me as “Mr.”, I choose to read it through that historical lens. Not as a mistake, but as an accidental nod to an older professional tradition one that simply said: you stand here as equal.
Perhaps, in its own quiet way, history is respecting me.

@mwaurakab @KoiraPeter @otienowill Applications for pre trial detention should be dispensed with on the same day ; in my view, putting off rulings is in essence a partial allowing of the application.

@otienowill We dearly need an honest conversation about Bail and Bond.
The PreTrial Detention conversation is the highest constitutional breach of our day ranking almost at par with abuse of office and graft

Raphael Tuju is not just a former Cabinet Secretary; he is a Kenyan citizen with rights explicitly protected under the Constitution. The moment the state ,through the police denies a person access to medical care, it stops acting as a lawful authority and starts behaving like an instrument of coercion.
A police station is not a hospital. It has no mandate, no equipment, and no legal standing to “manage” a patient, especially one with a documented medical history. The claim that there are “orders from above” to block hospital access is even more disturbing because it suggests that this is not an isolated act of overreach, but a coordinated abuse of power.

Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Tuju as a CS without a portfolio in his government.
"Without a Portfolio" is like getting an "appointment letter" to a position that doesn't exist. He was entitled to a salary equivalent to a CS with a portfolio and benefits.
For two years, he earned a salary and benefits from taxpayers' tab without a JD.

I think today:
- Once Eze and Øde aren’t available, the writing was on the wall. This was Eze’s day. Technical level too low.
- Timber and Calafiori game rather than White and Hincapié, but no Timber foiled it.
- Honourable to Kepa rather than ruthless and cost us.
- Subs made far too late, could’ve called it half time.
Overall, really disappointed not to get the trophy, but don’t think it dents our hopes for the big one. Potentially though causes concerns for the CL and FA Cup - do we have enough going forward?
LW, as always, the priority in the summer, but for now we must manage with what we have.

People thinking we lost the game because of Kepa is silly. Yes he made a mistake but we were awful, created nothing in the second half and always on the back foot. Just one of those but we move
Sporting Lisbon for a spot in the semis of the UCL
Southampton for a spot in the semis of FA Cup
Nine points clear with seven games to play in the PL
Imagine saying when Arteta took over that a few years later we’d be angry about not being able to do the quadruple
