Dehradun : A young student from Tripura passed away after being admitted to a Uttarakhand hospital for several weeks following a violent attack. The deceased, identified as Anjel Chakma, was allegedly brutally stabbed by a group of unidentified assailants when he and his brother protested against racial slurs hurled at them. According to Anjel Chakma’s younger brother Michael Chakma, a group of unidentified miscreants in an inebriated condition began harassing the brothers purely based on their appearance. Racial slurs such as ‘Nepali’, ‘Chinese’, ‘Chinki’, and ‘momos’ were shouted at them. Police have reportedly arrested five persons in connection with the case so far. The arrested individuals have been identified as Avinash Negi, Shaurya Rajput, Suraj Khawas, Ayush Badoni, and Sumit. eastmojo.com/news/2025/12/2…

When the whole world is struck by moral paralysis, should India’s silence surprise us? An old ally was attacked. We said nothing. No condemnation, no regret, not even a call for ceasefire. Just a vague appeal for “dialogue and de-escalation.” We are told this is smart diplomacy — the new realism. But history teaches otherwise: momentary self-interest without principles earns neither respect nor security. Just imagine — in some future, China attacks India the way the US did Iran. You’ll realise: in the real world, you need friends and some principles to survive. The rich and powerful can afford moral paralysis. We can’t. It's rare to find written pieces that are so vulnerable. In this sobering article, the author bravely writes on loss, grief and the depths of human connection. Fieldnotes from my father’s funeral – psyche.co/stories-of-cha… via @psyche_the_mag
