Putting my personal experiences of loss through suicide into a PhD on Supporting the Bereaved Child 🌸in a world where you can be anything, be kind🌸

Congratulations to Dr @jess_mannion on the successful defense of her dissertation exploring relationships and sexuality in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities at Viva Voce today. 🎉 Jess was supervised by Dr @FintanKSheerin and Dr @bradyvivienne1.

Grief is complex and there are many #misconceptions. One of them is that it has a #timeline and people should "get over it" after a certain time. But #grief cannot be neatly packaged. Everyone grieves differently and the length and intensity can vary.

If you are interested in an excellent program covering children and loss, register & listen in to the open evening tomorrow night @IrishHospice

Are you or do you know a frontline professional working in the area of bereavement? Next Thursday 23rd, we will hold a workshop in the South East. This free morning event in the Brandon House will be facilitated by Brid Carroll. For more, click 👇🏻 eventbrite.ie/e/anam-cara-so…

When your partner dies, don’t be afraid to show how you are feeling. Children learn about feelings by watching the adults around them, and it’s not helpful to be told they need to be brave. For more information on supporting a bereaved child, click here: ow.ly/h9Pp50Nhykr
