Repeated violations of animal protection laws to attract MCOCA The State Govt on Friday cleared the decks for imposition of provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), 1999, against repeat offenders who break the animal protection laws again and again.

The State Govt has issued a GR giving directions to all the regional offices to ensure the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1976 and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, is implemented in their respective areas in letter and spirit. Apart from that, the State Govt

has asked all the local authorities to find and take appropriate action against unauthorised slaughter houses. Besides, all the SPs, CPs, Commissioner Animal Husbandry and Transport have been asked to appoint Nodal Officers at their level to prevent illegal transport of animals.

#Update In the MSG College sexual harassment case, the Court of Hon'ble J.M.F.C Shri Krishna Latke today sent the accused Asst Prof Wajid Ali to magisterial custody. Ali was produced before the court after his two days' police custody ended today, Asst PP Abhinav Palawe said.

March 31 is not a deadline for SIR mapping, no need to panic: Dr Sardesai Dy Collector & Dy DEO Nashik Dr Madhumati Sardesai on Monday put to rest rumours claiming that March 31 was the deadline for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) mapping and after that the work will stop.
