@lucaslitmanen You are right Lucas, and the rebate scheme proposed by National today will have very limited purchase if the cost per hour that providers can charge isn’t also factored in. We should learn from the mistakes of other countries in this regard.

Childcare costs often become a hot topic in the run up to an election. Childcare rebate schemes are challenging to administer, and without any meaningful attempt to cap hourly rates, can do little to improve costs for parents. rnz.co.nz/news/national/…
