One of the biggest mistakes we make in social media is prioritizing activity over results. Pieces of content, number of posts or checking the box (post about product X ✅) to please clients or colleagues is not a strategy. Instead what would it take to: • Strengthen community • Inform & support customers • Increase awareness & brand affinity What am I missing?

@GuySie @jenalyson & I use 10% to say “Even if you hit this huge reach, it still doesn’t make financial or biz sense to put so much time into organic content. Just Bc you aren’t paying for media doesn’t mean it’s free.” Better make less content & promote - than hope your org content reaches ppl.

@ashleybohunk @jenalyson Yeah i use the same calculation when I explain to people why pure organic is a waste of their money. I don’t even bother with 10%, I just quote Ignite’s FB number from 2 years ago which said 2.2%. People disagree, I tell them a few points up is not gonna make a difference 🤷‍♂️

@GuySie @jenalyson You can see some of these numbers confirmed on FB & IG - like KimK’s account. On metrics, our research shows no correlation between ER, reach, CTR, VTR, etc and actual biz outcomes. They are all proxies. I wish these proxies meant something Bc my job would be a lot easier!

@jenalyson Where I struggle is with organic strategies - the organic reach % is so low & if you run the cost of making the content against the amount of people reached (who most of the time are already "fans" of the brand), the numbers never add up to me.

@MattNavarra At Meta, we use the term “creator” as an umbrella term to encompass all - someone who makes Reels, who makes an AR effect, etc. I personally never use “influencer” as it is loaded with assumptions as to what they can achieve w/ content, especially in context of branded content.
