The NHL is going ultra-high-resolution with new cameras for Coach's Challenges and video reviews thanks to their new multi-year tech partnership: scoutingtherefs.com/2026/02/51258/…
@ask_the_referee@IIHFHockey That's how they got sold... The #NHL basically negotiated their spots and that is wrong... You are the Ref-Statician... Who are currently the NHL-Refs with the most games and how many of them are currently at the #OG?
It really is ironic... Yet still, the #NHL Refs should not be here just because they're #NHL Refs... It's really a poor showing... This is an @IIHFHockey Tournament and should be called like this and not by #NHL Standards... That's what the #WorldCupofHockey is for...
@Lars_Mah Bad officiating level at this tournament!
Almost in every game. Cheap calls, missed calls.
But yes, NHL refs are way better then swiss refs! 😂 😂 😂
@ask_the_referee I guess they considered that intentional. But it is also what bothers me. Either you consider it intentional (no goal + 2min) or you consider it incidental (goal). There is no other option outside the crease. Or perhaps he simply considered it was incidental and in the crease…
Interesting scene at the @championshockey semifinal:
Elia Riva gets hit in the face by the stick of Brian O'Neill, the refs stop the play to check on Riva. One of the refs thought it was the Puck who hit Riva, the two Linesmen clearly saw that it was O'Neills stick and tell thst to the head refs. The other head ref didn't see anything despite it happening right infront of of him. They check again on Riva if he's bleeding because if that's the case, they would be able to call 4min and check the video. But since there was no blood, they just agreed on having messed up and no penalty has been called.
Such a situation cannot be in the interest of anyone. Rulebook should be updated to fix this. Linesmen need to be allowed to help the head refs.
@bratensauce@official_EVZ@EHCKlotenFlyers No jokes when a player gets injured!
This case (checker comes from frontside, head is down) there shall be NO penalty!
This is the only situation, where a contact with the head can be legal.
@ask_the_referee@official_EVZ@EHCKlotenFlyers Are you being sarcastic? Maybe the video quality was not conclusive enough. But it’s clearly a check to the head of a player in a vulnerable position.
There is no good check to the head.
You can see the head snap back first directly after the impact. (main point of contact)
Another addition to the @official_EVZ injury list: Künzle left the game bleeding from the face after hit to the head from @EHCKlotenFlyers Simic. No penalty called.
Ryfors 🇸🇪 of @HCD_offiziell got injured after getting hit to the head. No call on the ice. Unlike Künzles case, here Yakovenko 🇷🇺 @scbern_news got suspended after the game.

#HCFG
