If you had a classroom of your own for the first time and had some money to spend, what would definitely get? Highlighters, scissors, tape, mini whiteboard markers and erasers.... What else??

Teaching is saying “Please listen! I’m only going to say the directions once,” then repeat the directions over and over for 30 years until you finally retire.

My dad passed away on Sunday and I’m still trying to process it. I spent the last few days listening to old voice mails and watching videos. Here is a video I made of my 82-year-old bricklayer father rehabbing to give you an idea of how strong he truly was.

Instead of continually hearing: “This is not America” Let’s start hearing: “This is not what we want America to be”. And then let’s do things to help make it better. 💛

Today was rough for me. After class ended, I received this email from a student: "...You were looking a bit stressed (tired?) during class, and I was kind of concerned. But, yeah, I know I can't exactly do much but if I can do anything to support you I'm here."

I have a friendly reminder for all those folks yelling, shouting, and posting your disagreement and disdain for your school's return to learn plans. Teachers are not calling the shots. They are rolling with the punches and making it work the best they can for the kids.

I wonder if our students realize how often we lose sleep worrying about them?

I thought hybrid meant that students learn both online and in person, not that the teacher will teach students online and in person at the same time every day. This Isn't What We Meant by Hybrid Learning weareteachers.com/this-isnt-hybr… via @WeAreTeachers

@Mcoaty It depends on the day. Sometimes, if we’re sharing something quick, I can call on everyone in class. If we’re sharing more in depth thoughts, I might call on 7-10, and then open the floor to volunteers. Then I promise to call on them the next class.

@Mcoaty I have notecards with each kid’s name on it and rotate through the stack to hear all voicd. I always have them prepare something beforehand like I will say, “look for 3 quotes you can share. I will randomly call on everyone at least once to share.”

Any other teachers feel like crying? I'll push through, but y'all, this isn't what I signed up for. My classes are going pretty good but the workload far exceeds my capacity (and I'm a high capacity person).
