@steve_hanke Here in Turkey since the 1st of january 2026 all shipments with whatever size or price, and coming from abroad is detained by the Turkish Customs. And to get them you have to ask help from Custom Brokers. Now for a 10 EUR product you have to pay 200EUR for customs tax and brokers

OMEGA-3 SUPPLEMENTS: THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH EVERYONE IGNORES You pop omega-3 pills thinking they're harmless. They're not. A massive study of 400,000 people dropped showing omega-3 supplements increase atrial fibrillation risk by 13%. That's your heart rhythm going haywire, speeding up and slowing down randomly. Strokes become more likely. Your heart can't pump blood properly. The mainstream health crowd still pushes these supplements like candy. Ray Peat warned about this years ago. Polyunsaturated fats, including omega-3s, are inherently unstable. They oxidize easily. They interfere with cellular respiration. They suppress thyroid function. Your body doesn't need supplemental omega-3. You're solving a problem that doesn't exist. THE FISH OIL MYTHOLOGY The omega-3 craze started with observational data showing people who ate fish had lower heart disease rates. Notice the sleight of hand? Fish consumption is not the same as isolated omega-3 supplements. Fish contains protein, selenium, and other protective factors. The supplement industry took correlation and turned it into causation. The JALIS study in 2007 showed EPA supplements reduced heart disease by 19%. Sounds impressive until you realize participants knew they were taking the supplement. Open-label studies are garbage. Placebo effects dominate. Then came REDUCE-IT in 2019. Double-blind this time. EPA group showed reduced heart disease. Mainstream doctors celebrated. But here's what they conveniently ignored: the placebo group took mineral oil, which is toxic. Mineral oil raised cholesterol and inflammation in the control group. You weren't seeing omega-3 benefits. You were watching one group get poisoned while the other didn't. The STRENGTH study found zero benefit for omega-3. It was stopped early because results were so disappointing. That study doesn't get mentioned much in health magazines. VITAL trial showed a 28% reduction in heart attacks. Largest study yet, over 25,000 people. Mayo Clinic did a meta-analysis and concluded omega-3 reduces heart attacks with high-grade certainty. But VITAL used 840 milligrams daily. STRENGTH used 4 grams daily. That difference matters more than anyone wants to admit. DOSE MAKES THE POISON Higher omega-3 doses alter cell membrane properties. Your cells need stability. Polyunsaturated fats create the opposite. They make membranes more fluid, more permeable, more vulnerable to oxidative damage. STRENGTH study participants taking 4 grams daily had a 69% increased risk of atrial fibrillation. VITAL participants taking under 1 gram daily had no increase in atrial fibrillation. The pattern is obvious. Low doses might offer marginal benefits. High doses cause problems. Ray Peat explained this decades ago. Polyunsaturated fats interfere with energy production at the mitochondrial level. They suppress thyroid function. They promote inflammatory cascades. The body can handle small amounts from whole food sources. Concentrated supplements overwhelm your system's ability to manage the oxidative stress. THE REAL PROBLEM Omega-3 supplements lower triglycerides slightly. They reduce inflammation markers modestly. They might lower blood pressure a bit. These effects are real but small. You know what else lowers triglycerides? Improving thyroid function. Supporting liver function with B vitamins and glycine. The supplement industry created a solution for a manufactured problem. Humans evolved eating whole foods. We never needed isolated omega-3 oils. Modern supplement protocols ignore context. They assume you can extract one component and get the same effect. You can't. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO INSTEAD If you insist on taking omega-3 despite everything I've just explained, keep it under 1 gram daily. Eat fatty fish twice weekly instead. Salmon provides 1.8 grams per serving along with protein, selenium, and B vitamins that help you actually use those fats properly. Focus on metabolic health first. Support your thyroid with adequate protein, minerals, and carbohydrates. Get sunlight. Reduce polyunsaturated fat intake from seed oils. Increase saturated fat from dairy or red meat. Your cells run on glucose and oxygen. They need stable membranes to produce energy efficiently. Flooding your system with unstable polyunsaturated fats works against that process. The cardiovascular benefits people chase with omega-3 supplements come from improved metabolic function. Better thyroid activity. Lower oxidative stress. Stable blood sugar. You achieve those goals more effectively by addressing root causes rather than taking supplements that introduce new problems. Omega-3 supplements are not benign. The new atrial fibrillation data confirms what Ray Peat warned about for years. Polyunsaturated fats create instability. Your body tolerates small amounts. Supplemental doses push you past that threshold. Personally, I have not taken an omega-3 supplement for the past seven years. To be honest, in the past five years, I did not even eat salmon or any foods that contain relevant amounts of omega-3. I am also keeping my omega-6 intake very low, so essentially both so-called essential fatty acids in my diet come from tiny amounts in the animal products that I eat.
