Nigeria may be one of the greatest free talent factories in human history. We train our best doctors, engineers, researchers, programmers, nurses, academics and innovators… then export them cheaply to countries that already work. America benefits, Canada benefits, Britain benefits, Australia benefits and entire Europe benefits as-well. Meanwhile the country that produced the talent remains broken, and the painful part is this: excellent people are the rarest resource on earth. Not oil, not gold nor land. Excellent human beings. The kind of people that build industries, fix institutions, create companies, discover medicines, design systems, lead revolutions and move civilizations forward. Every serious nation knows this. That is why the West aggressively absorbs the best brains from struggling countries. They don’t joke with talent. Nigeria loses thousands of its most competent people every year, then we gather online to argue about tribe and politics while our future quietly boards flights out of the country. Imagine if China lost most of its best engineers. Imagine if Singapore exported its smartest minds permanently. Imagine if South Korea trained talents only for other nations to use them. Would they become great nations? No. A nation rises on the strength of its human capital. And this is why I still believe Nigeria can become first world within our generation but only if we become intentional about building a country our best people no longer feel desperate to escape from. Because no country develops by permanently exporting its most capable citizens and importing mediocrity into leadership. At some point, we must stop celebrating survival abroad and start building a nation worth staying back to fight for.

Zimbabwe Exports Africa’s First Locally Processed Lithium In a historic development, Zimbabwe has become the first African nation to export locally-processed lithium to the international market. The critical mineral, popular for its use in the rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that power the world’s smartphones, laptops and electric vehicles, has traditionally been exported from Africa only in its raw form. On April 29, 2026, that changed. The development was made possible with support from Chinese tech company Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt. While the West continues to recycle tired tricks in order to continue plundering the continent, China continues to demonstrate its solidarity with Africa on its path to development.

One Wednesday, a student was hungry and decided to eat. All she did wrong was to step out of her hostel to buy food to eat. Minutes turned to hours, and she didn't come back. Her friends got worried and decided to call her number, but it was switched off. 10 months later, her phone has remained switched off, and unfound. There have been no meaningful updates, no clear answers, and the noise around her disappearance has faded like it never happened. We do not know where she is. We do not know what happened, and we do not even know whether she is alive or not. Her name was Dorcas, the only child of her parents and she could have been anybody.

If you have a sibling, friend, or family member who is in any Nigerian University, kindly say a word of prayer for them once you see this and also send them money, because they need it. In OOU, students had to hit the streets after armed robbers invaded hostels at midnight, shooting, stealing phones and gadgets, injuring students, and even carjacking a vehicle. At EKSU, students have been facing repeated security issues incessant gunmen attacks, with one student murdered behind Lakers' hostel earlier this month. When students protested, they were met with tear gas. In OAU, students are currently dealing with unrest over transportation issues, with some having to trek long distances to go home after being evicted from school hostels for protesting.. In the space of one week, they mourned two students, one who lost his life during an exam due to cardiac arrest and another who committed suicide due to depression. A student was recently kidnapped on the way to IT and had to pay ransom before being released. At Unilorin, students queue every single day , yet many cannot even speak out. At Covenant University, a student’s life was lost due to delayed emergency response. The cost of studying has skyrocketed, making basic survival harder for students. Academic pressure as well as financial pressure, exploitation from lecturers, and unfair academic conditions. Life in school is becoming more difficult by the day, and many students are struggling to afford basic amenities. In our quest for a degree, may we not be sent back home unalived to our parents 🙏

We will institute an action in court against UNN if the demand is not met by Wednesday. The conditions of students in the hostels are very terrible. Extremely dirty, bed bugs everywhere, too many loose wires, dirty bathrooms, broken windows and thieves invasion. It must stop!

If you’re a sharp young person in Nigeria thinking of starting something (doesn’t have to be tech), let me give you the honest version I wish someone had dropped for me. They didn’t explain how badly startup founders need help with LinkedIn. Or how much real buying power, investors, partners, decision-makers, is sitting on that one platform. And nobody showed me what it actually looks like to turn this into a proper business. I help founders show up consistently on LinkedIn. I write their posts, shape their positioning, and build their thought leadership so they stop scrolling past and start getting real inbound: investor DMs, partnership talks, sales calls, podcast invites, and warm intros they’ve been chasing for months. Here’s the exact process if you want to start this kind of business yourself: 1. Finding clients: - Look for recently funded seed-stage startups on Crunchbase, Tracxn, the Y Combinator, StartupList Africa, or follow local funding news on TechCabal and Africa: The Big Deal. - Focus on founders who have open content or growth roles. These ones already know content works, you’re not begging them to try LinkedIn, you’re solving a headache they’re already feeling. - Always start with a 2-week trial. It’s the easiest way to get your foot in the door without pressure. 2. Doing the actual work: - Have a proper ~45-minute content interview with the founder every week. Don’t guess what’s in their head. Come prepared with smart prompts and ask for their honest take on recent news in their industry. - Spend 80% of your energy crafting a strong hook. Seriously. If nobody clicks “see more,” the rest of the post doesn’t matter. Use social proof and create that curiosity gap that makes people stop scrolling. - Keep two types of posts in rotation: – Reach posts: company wins, hiring updates, behind-the-scenes of building the thing. – Bottom-funnel posts: deep product content, strong industry takes, and messages crafted directly for their ideal customer (ICP). The truth? LinkedIn remains the place where serious money and opportunities concentrate. Most founders know this, but they’re too busy building the actual product to show up properly. That gap? That’s where the business sits. If you’re in Nigeria or anywhere in Africa and you can write well, understand startups even a little, and you’re willing to learn fast, this is one quiet but powerful way to build something real from your laptop. Rooting for you ❤️.

Good People, Alhaji Aliko Dangote will deliver the 37th Public Lecture of my alma mater, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, on Saturday, April 25, 2026. And when he is done, a peerless icon of Africa’s entrepreneurial capitalism will be honoured with the Ikenga, FUTO’s enduring symbol of strength, excellence, and citizenship (two of mine in photo). In the Igbo tradition, it takes the killing of one leopard to be called a killer of leopards. In the marketplace of enterprise, Dangote has brought many business leopards home. We warmly welcome him to our University and look forward to him sharing from his vast experience, elevating minds and inspiring the next generation. Seventeen years ago, I had the privilege of standing on that same podium to deliver FUTO’s 15th Public Lecture, the first by an alumnus in the University history. It remains one of the highest honours because it is the Public Lecture. As an undergraduate, I attended one delivered by late HRM Prof. Joseph Chike Edozien, the former Asagba of Asaba. It was an intellectual festival chaired by Prof. Oba, then Vice Chancellor of FUTO. On April 25, Dangote will speak under the academic chairmanship of Prof. Mrs. Nnenna N. Oti, our distinguished Vice Chancellor and leader of our University. Good People, the road leads to Owerri. Come and experience what makes FUTO Africa’s finest technical university. To all the students, Dangote will solve “ODE – o di egwu” but here instead of calculus, it will be the “mystical” calculus of markets. Enjoy the lecture.

Today, I visit University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC) and I saw first hand the deplorable state of the female hostels. The students are really suffering. Their hostels are constantly being robbed at night because of bad windows. Their toilets are a mess and environment bad.

Today, we visited this facility that we may likely use for our first cohort for Igbo Apprenticeship redesign project in Enugu. The empty land beside it will be used for the warehouse construction. The warehouse is for plumbing, welding, bricklaying, auto mechanics etc trainings.
