@_luckylck@deweibs What you're saying makes a lot of sense, to sell "husbands" it's better to market them to "husband lovers" But if they really wanted to target that audience, they wouldn't have remove the dates, which leaves us in the dark, at least until we play and see these chars storylines.
The NTE game officially launched in China today. Currently, male characters do not have dating features for ❷ and ❸.
❶Memories
❷iving together
❸Strolling through the city together (holding hands)
@deweibs@_luckylck And I don't agree with the money argument, there are buyers for waifus, you wouldn't have enough fingers on both hands to count the number of games featuring waifus that generate millions, the revenue generated by the entire waifu industry is enormous, and games keep releasing.
@deweibs@_luckylck He says that a male character is aimed at "husbando enjoyers," but I say that a male character doesn't necessarily have to be aimed at "husbando enjoyers."
@_luckylck@deweibs I don't want to sound like a hater because that's not who I am, but these chars, especially the male ones in these waifu games, don't sell as well. You're asking them to invest the same amount in a char that won't sell as well. They have the same price, but do they sell equally?
@asthelore@deweibs It's not valid for characters that cost the same amount of money to have a different amount of content.
If ALL the girl characters have the function but the men don't, it's not a matter of 'if they're friends or have chemistry story wise or not'
@deweibs@_luckylck I’m not saying that all men like male chars. I’m saying that a male character might be aimed at those who do, not at other audiences. Also, depending on the circumstances, a male char may be more or less disliked, is there the same level of dislike for Scaramouche as for others?
@asthelore@_luckylck Don't act like an idiot. Iron Man isn't allowed in the waifu game. CN incels plays this game to date waifus, not to watch Iron Man show off. They think waifus will definitely fall in love with Iron Man, and they feel like they're being NTR'd.
@deweibs@_luckylck The other thing: the fact that they make the chars attractive doesn't mean anything either, or should they make the chars ugly just because the game is aimed at men? At the end of the day, they're chars in a game; you can't even say that the NPCs in these games are ugly.
@deweibs@_luckylck How are we supposed to know how they're written? If we haven't even played the game yet, and if, when we do play it, the male characters really are MC-sexual, I'll agree with you completely, but if they're written simply as good friends, that would mean my point is valid.
@_luckylck@deweibs The presence of a male character doesn't necessarily imply anything sexual or an attempt to attract a different audience.
If we're talking specifically about heterosexual men, do you think it's unusual to have a female girlfriend and male friends? No, it's the most common thing.
@_luckylck@deweibs Why can't a male character be aimed at men? The MC can easily have a best friend in the game, a friendship with no sexual attraction involved. Take a West example: there are plenty of men who admire Iron Man. If he appeared in a gacha, they wouldn't hesitate to pull him.
@deweibs@gio222234422014 have no restrictions when it comes to creating relationships, so many MCxWaifu pairings are canon, not just hints, as is the case in games from Hoyoverse and Kuro.
And I think a protagonist with dual gender will limit that, not just for the "waifus" but also for the "husbands".
@deweibs@gio222234422014 Let me see how to explain this: I don't hate female MCs, but I feel like they're limiting, especially when it comes to developing deep relationships. Games like Goddess of Victory: Nikke, which feature only a male protagonist
The male-to-fem player ratio for NTE will soon be similar to that of Wuwa.
On Xiaohongshu, where female users are prevalent, Wuwa/NTE is unpopular; on Douyin, Wuwa/NTE's female followers only make up 18-22%. This is confirmed on two popular Cn apps.
@deweibs@gio222234422014 I love FRover, but what I don't like is that it seems to limit deeper interactions, or keeps things pretty superficial. It's also similar in the way that I imagine you don't hate male characters, but you still know it would be better if games like GI or WuWA didn't include them.
@asthelore@gio222234422014 Even without using FEM MC, male CN players consider FEM MC their twin sister Waifu, very popular and without any hostility. Only Snowbreak Incels dislike FEM MC.
@deweibs@gio222234422014 Just a question, I read this from someone random, but someone mentioned that there were people complaining that the FMC was practically the only shown in Endfield ads and the game internal tutorials. Do you know anything about that? Was it in CN, or was outside, or just fake?
@deweibs@gio222234422014 Even so, I'm noticing a trend: games aimed at men, or primarily at men, that offer a male main character as default or as selectable option tend to perform better. Furthermore, there is a very high percentage of male players who choose to play as male main characters.
@deweibs@gio222234422014 Hahaha, that's really crazy and delirious. Imagine being able to picture yourself sleeping with female pixel characters, but not playing as a skinny male MC.
@asthelore@gio222234422014 I'm referring to Cn devrs/incels. Cn devs and Cn Waifu fans tend to prefer FEM MC.
they think Male MC isnt themselves—they don't look alike (devs're fat, Male MC is thin).
That's why only 1 or 2 games only have male MC,Unless this kind of game makes a lot of money
@deweibs@gio222234422014 As I said, I respect your opinion.
We'll see over the years, when players get tired of ML bait and Harem bait, because in the end, by leaving everything half-finished, it doesn't deliver, it doesn't satisfy anyone, neither the women nor the men nor anyone else.
@asthelore@gio222234422014 So many games feature female characters largely because developers prefer female characters. Genshin, Wuwa, NTE, and Silver Palace released female leads first because they preferred them; they were so dismissive of male characters that they even disliked male lead
@deweibs@gio222234422014 LADS generates more revenue than WuWa. How do you know that its success isn't due to having a fixed female protagonist and not featuring female characters? Perhaps a 36% of female players don't play because there's no male protagonist, but doing so attracts a larger percentage.
@deweibs@gio222234422014 I respect your opinion, but I don't agree. How do you know that a new percentage of players wouldn't join in, and that even a portion of that 36% wouldn't play the same way? Look, LADS, if it had a male MC and fem chars, would it be in the same pos? Or would it be in WuWa's pos?
