VIDEO | Activist and psephologist Yogendra Yadav, who was a litigant in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) case before the Supreme Court, said, "As one of the litigants, I have reasons to be disappointed, but I am shocked. Not shocked only because I was litigant and the judgment did not go in my favor. That can happen. Not shocked because I had expected a very different judgment. For the last few months, the course, the very strange course that this particular case had taken, made it absolutely clear which way things were going. I'm shocked that the Supreme Court of this country has allowed the fundamental democratic principle to be overturned. In a democracy, voters choose the government. The government cannot choose the voters. And the net effect of what the Supreme Court has done today is that now BJP shall decide who can be a voter in this country and who cannot. Technically, you might say Election Commission will decide. But because the same Supreme Court has done absolutely nothing to ensure that the Election Commission's own appointment is a non-partisan way, and given the manner in which the Election Commission behaves these days, it is absolutely true that now BJP decides who will be the voter, and on the basis of their votes, BJP will say, "We have one popular mandate." This is a complete overturning of the fundamental principle of universal adult franchise...I'm astonished that the Supreme Court of India has put its seal of approval on fundamental overturning of democratic principles."

Very nice one. Do SIPs work? Yes, if you hold them for 5-10Y. The longer you stay, the more the probability stacks up in your favour.
Kayezad E Adajania@kayezad

DO SIPs WORK? Of the 295 actively managed, diversified equity schemes with a two-year track record, 26% haven’t made any money in the last two years if you had started your SIP then, according to ACE MF data. Nearly 54% have failed to beat 5% returns. Just 1% of schemes have made returns in excess of 10% if you had started your SIP two years back. These are precisely the times when investors question the veracity and wisdom of SIPs. Which is where our annual @ET_Wealth - @CrisilLimited annual SIP Study 2026 comes in. If you continue your SIPs for 10 years, you won’t lose money. But the probability of incurring losses starts to decline after 4 years. + This year we have also analysed how long it takes for SIPs to recover after market crash. This is for those who panic and stop their SIPs in turbulence. But the bigger story is how investors actually behave during a crisis. Our cover story features three individuals who didn’t stop their SIPs despite a personal crisis, and two who did and paid the price. My story in this week’s @ET_Wealth. Let me know in the comments how you’ve reacted during a crisis; I would love to hear your stories.

Not talking about Vedant or his family here, but imagine an average Modi supporter, a bhakt, who casually brands anyone questioning the government a “Pakistani agent.” What happens if, one day, something similar were to happen to their own child, and the same godi media ecosystem and fellow bhakts started calling that child a Pakistani agent too? That’s the thing about normalising hatred. It never stays confined to the people you dislike. Sooner or later, it comes for everyone. What goes around comes around. We sow the seeds of hatred, and eventually we end up harvesting the same crop ourselves.

***Latest update; ET Wealth - Crisil SIP Study 2026 You were sneeringly asked "Do SIPs work?" You were called "SIP Seller" (as if that is an insult lol 😂) It never bothered you because you had data and you were on the right side 💸 - A 10-year SIP return in worst case is 7%; Zero probability of losing money in a 10-year SIP - 80% chance of 10%+ returns from year 4 onwards - Beyond 5 years, average SIP return stabilises around 15% read more on @ET_Wealth @kayezad @CrisilLimited

Friends, this is a common question; instead of opinions, let data do the talking; "The average return in the Nifty 100 if you invested for any random three-, five- or 10-year period is not very different. You get 13.55%, 13.03% and 12.94%, respectively. However, the minimum return is far better. This changes to -3.77%, 0.49% and 7.51% over the three time periods, respectively" 1/n

(under) performance we all see over last 18-24 months is in point to point returns. We all know that P2P returns are of no help; - IF you start from 23 Mar 2020 covid bottom, you get CAGR of between 25-30% - Count from ATH of Sept 2024 and you get poor returns. ...to avoid both these extreme situations look at rolling returns. 2/n

He @AshokShrivastava6. His salary is paid by us, the public. Yet when the same public registers their distress, he orchestrates an SM witch hunt against them. For the last 12 yrs, any protest or movement, he has labelled it as a Toolkit, Soros Gang etc. etc. Today, when a CBSE Class 12 student, a victim of the CBSE’s incompetence, shared his distress, Ashok labelled him Paki. And seriously speaking, if anyone thinks that he will restrain himself from doing this in the future - 👎🏾 Becoz despite breaking all the norms of Prasar Bharati, he is well-settled in Doordarshan a channel that runs on public money. And from that salary (plus some Ashirvad, of course), he could arrange a grand marriage ceremony for his daughter in Feb 2026, which was attended by PM Modi ji along with many Union Ministers. Therefore, certainly, also no one will ever dare to call his son a Pakistani. He can call ours. ✌🏽

Just spoke to Vedant’s brother. Their issue is genuine. He and his family are under immense distress due to certain social media posts falsely calling him “Pakistani” and targeting him personally. The family is already suffering because of the incompetence and fault of CBSE. They are currently in contact with CBSE, and if their issue is not resolved, they will take legal action against the Board. I discussed everything in detail with his brother and assured him of my full support. I will not charge any professional fee for any legal action in this matter. #CBSE
Adv.Vineet Jindal@vineetJindal19

I don’t know why, but despite many efforts from me and others, Vedant did not come forward to share his paper to approach the court. I even messaged him in DM, but still received no reply. Some posts suggested that this account is fake as based in south asia.

This is India's ‘FREE PRESS’ ! He's an anchor on Doordarshan, a central government TV channel. He's always spewing venom. When a child questioned the flaws in the CBSE exam testing, this national channel anchor @AshokShrivasta6 labeled him a P@kistani child. Imagine the mental trauma the child and his entire family must have suffered! This is a serious crime. It's online bullying. If it were any other country, he would be in jail for violating child rights. But the @narendramodi government won't take action against this anchor. If they do, we'll let you know. This is PRESS FREEDOM here… you can FREELY commit any crime while sitting in the government's lap. Thank you
