@walterheck @yacineMTB Single latest raw (no plugins/MCP/connectors/skills/etc.) terminal, model, and prompt. Trying to *commit changes to Git*. It would run an `add` for untracked files as it simultaneously attempted to `commit` those untracked files, and end up wrestling with its own locks.

There isn't a single smart person I know that uses claude code over chatGPT 5.4 xhigh by the way. The only reason anyone would use claude is, amusingly, because claude does not have guard rails. But now they do, so there is no reason remaining to use it

CEO of Chipotle caught on a recording indicating they’re going to keep raising prices because they can “We learned that 60% of our core users are over $100,000 a year in income, in average household income. That gives us confidence that we can lean into that group in a more meaningful way — to really drive meaningful transaction performance in the year” - Chipotle Earnings call

It takes *20 years* to pay off a $4800 system at $20/month, and that's not factoring labor of assembly/operation, or electricity, or hardware obsolescence. I went nuts on my system because I *enjoy* playing around with local models, but even at $100/month it is ROI-negative IMO. Nerfing or rug-pulling can get addressed if/when it happens rather than in case it does. I don't see how we can simultaneously observe that the entire AI industry is heavily-subsidized while also putting forth (so far always worse than SOTA commercial) local models as a good idea beyond exploration or philosophy.

@MrOverprayed Salt and pepper will do. Adding tomatoes, basil, and olive oil to that will do even better. Whole milk large curd is the best of all cottage cheese IMO.

@TheZvi Hardiness of physical media itself matters a lot to me in that calculation. Discs are sensitive and annoying, but things like Game Boy carts you could leave in a bowl. For that I prefer because it's easy while enhancing gifts/loans/trades/resale.

@astrostl NES cartridge cleaning and fidgeting erasure! Yeah, it would turn on right away, but if you wanted to switch games, that was at your own risk. (Jumping right in is nice and the wait can be annoying, but I'd rather have the wait then have to deal with physical media)

I get what this is going for but it is exactly backwards. TV in the 90s: - buy a guide, scout out everything in advance - plan a schedule, track channels and times - manage space on your DVR, lose recordings, cry - 30% ads - often actually watch live, with ads and everything - if you miss it, you miss it - huh, that's on, okay, sure - you think it's good because you grew up without DVR TV 2025: - watch anything anyone has ever made - any time, on demand, it tracks your place in everything - even if you buy everything you want, less total cost - if they make you watch ads it's like 2 minutes per hour - even those 2 minutes make you angry - okay, sure, it takes 30 seconds to navigate sometimes - you complain because of paradox of choice
Andrej Karpathy@karpathy

TV in the 90s: you turn it on, you watch. TV 2025: - turn on, wait for it to load - popup: TV wants to update, 1.5GB. No. - scroll sideways, find prime video app or etc - popup: now app wants to update, 500MB. No!! - App launching... App loading… - select account screen - 🫠

@TheCinesthetic Back then it wasn't uncommon to show up a theater unplanned and to catch something showing soon. I did that with this, had never even heard of it. Easily the most jaw-dropping theater experience of my life.

It's weird writing up reactions when so much of it is 'give me back my model picker' or 'give me back 4o' when you now have a model picker and you have 4o.

@TheZvi Oh and while I'm here, I think you should have a Discord for paid subscribers 😇 No obligation but to connect them with each other. I bet that would be a fantastic crowd with whom to have AI convos.

@TheZvi Specifically: I'm only even here bc my TL is full of what seems like sycophantic hyperbole about G4 and I thought, "man, IDK about all that. I wonder if Zvi has anything yet..." and scanned your profile.

@TheCinesthetic [SPOILER BUT THIS WHOLE THREAD IS?] I won't go with ruin, but I think Gangs of New York would have been far better — and half the runtime — if Bill killed Amsterdam when he attempted to betray him.
