Therefore, increased ICM viscosity flattens the velocity fluctuations vs. density fluctuations relation. Be sure to check out the paper to not miss any details! 📝 doi.org/10.3847/1538-4… And many thanks to Tirso Marín-Gilabert for letting me participate in this study!

The Perseus cluster as you have never seen it, by vanWeeren+ A plethora of new features are detected in the @LOFAR 150 MHz image, including numerous substructures in the mini halo and extended diffuse emission on a scale of ~1 Mpc permeating the cluster arxiv.org/abs/2410.02863

I'm always late with posting photos, but here they are anyway! A week later, a few shots from my thesis defense.

The paper mainly concerns an extensive testing of the algorithm and profiling of its implementation for shared-memory platforms.

With vortex-p, the same analyses can be applied to SPH, moving-mesh, meshless finite mass, etc. simulations via the creation of an ad-hoc hierarchy of grids, onto which the original velocity field is represented through a (special) kernel summation.

We present a new algorithm, based on our previous vortex code, to perform - A Helmholtz-Hodge decomposition (compressive + solenoidal) - A Reynolds decomposition (bulk + turbulent), using an adaptive, iterative, multi-scale filter on particle-based, moving-mesh or meshless

simulated velocity fields. These problems are (more) straightforward for fixed, uniform grids, but become quite more complicated when it comes to data not uniformly sampled in space. In 2021 we addressed the problem for patch-based AMR implementations in the original vortex code
