What made Degrassi so impactful and special that it was a show about teens for teens. You turned it on and you weren’t just entertained by the characters like other teen shows but you related to those characters bc they were teenagers going through relatable struggles.

When I was young and watching Degrassi hearing Paige tell Emma that she was still a kid just a kid with a maxi pad meant so much to me. You’re told from a young age that period = woman which isn’t true and hearing I was still a kid was so important to me.

You do realize that Aaron Spellings wanted to buy the rights to Degrassi and make an American show version and the creators said no and that’s why 90210 was born.
