@gyamfi_sam2 Yes, omeprazole can mildly inhibit the activation of clopidogrel (via CYP2C19). It may reduce its anti-platelet effect a bit. In this short 2-week course it’s usually acceptable, but ideally we prefer pantoprazole or rabeprazole for patients on clopidogrel.

In court this morning, there was this case where EFCC arrested and detained someone for 16 days. The suspect, through his lawyer, filed a fundamental rights action challenging the continued detention. When the EFCC lawyer was explaining why the suspect had been in their custody, omo… the court sparked. The judge told EFCC: “You people can be lawless sometimes. Why will you detain somebody for 16 days without a court order? That is why you people lose cases up and down.” The court was visibly angry (and honestly, why EFCC go detain person for 16 days? E get as e be). Imagine say the reason for the arrest and detention na because the suspect dey owe somebody one million naira. Since when EFCC become debt recovery agency? Finally, the court gave judgment against EFCC, the police, and the creditor (the person wey the suspect dey owe). The court ordered them to pay ₦1.2 million to the suspect/applicant for unlawful detention. So you see why you should not sleep over your rights. Our judges are still here doing justice and being the hope of the common man. My advice: Stop using police and EFCC to recover debt — it is illegal. The moment I saw Colistin being resistant, what came to my mind is that as an individual, pray you don’t reach this stage. You must also work to ensure that. But that is not even the main thing. The moment I was reading through the result, I smiled. Why? This is a poorly curated result laden with unnecessary drugs that can act as noise. There is something called intrinsic resistance, and some of the antibiotics here should not even be tried as an option to use based on that. If they were tried, let’s say because of a disk issue, the final result should not include them because of course they will be resistant, while acting as noise. You can imagine testing ampicillin, amoxicillin (clavulanate), cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, nitrofurantoin, TMP-SMX, even Ertapenem against P. aeruginosa. You will expect Ertapenem to work since Imipenem and Meropenem are active against Pseudomonas, but nope. Ertapenem has no activity against Enterococcus, Pseudomonas, and Acinetobacter based on its physicochemical properties and Pseudomonas’ constitutive efflux pump activity. The best thing would have been to not test them at all, but if you are using a disk that contains them, remove them from the final report so as not to add noise or misguide clinical decision-making. Let me not even dive into the Colistin, Piperacillin (I pray it is a mistake that what they wanted to write is Piperacillin-tazobactam), and the absence of Ceftazidime and Tobramycin. Instead of Ceftriaxone, Ceftazidime should have been tested and Tobramycin is more sensitive than Gentamicin. If I were the ID specialist here, I would request a new sensitivity test with a better laboratory.

However, Here’s why it matters: 1. Yeast Tablets + Multivitamins; Both are rich in B-vitamins. Alcohol blocks proper absorption of these vitamins and can actually deplete them from your body. So drinking while taking them reduces the very benefit you’re trying to get (energy, skin health, recovery). 2. Antallerge Eye Drops; Alcohol causes dehydration and can make your eyes drier and more irritated, the opposite of what the drops are trying to fix. 3. Overall recovery; Alcohol weakens your immune system and slows healing, especially when you’re already dealing with allergies or any infection. It’s not that these medicines have a dangerous interaction with alcohol like some strong antibiotics do… it’s more about helping the patient get the maximum benefit and recover faster without setbacks. Once she finishes the full course and feels completely better, she can resume moderate drinking if she chooses, but while on treatment, it’s best to skip it. Thanks for asking!
