I designed a furniture e-commerce site as a practice project. The brand idea: furniture that ages with you, not with trends. 🧵 1/ The palette - cream and warm neutrals, not white. White feels sterile. This brand needed to feel like Sunday morning.

@dineshpaii Yeah, mistakes do teach, but not everyone actually learns from them.

@atish_here I think stupidity usually leads to lessons learnt, which then means going back to basics and roots. Again all this hopefully, because I dont have hopes on humans learning from mistakes. :)

Was in Udupi over the weekend. One thing is for certain given the temperatures in the summer. Everyone will stop constructing cement boxes and will try to have these lovely tile roofs with proper tree cover. Everyone buying land will also look for enough tree cover. How stupid of us humans, even with community housing projects, we first clear piece of land of trees, then look to plant trees. No wonder that while we're sophisticated as beings, we'll always be the dumbest. The other shift if the perception change. A house with cement construction signified wealth. Atleast that's what everyone used to feel. But I think how these cement roofs radiate heat late into the night, is just crazy. It wont matter what your neighbor thinks if you're not able to get good sleep right? I was asking so many people who have tile roofs if they are able to sleep well withou ACs and they all say it's not as bad as staying under a cement roof. So yeah, I guess it's not just South India. This is going to be a mega trend across India. We'll hopefully stop construction the ugly cement boxes and build beautiful homes like we always used to. Note - This photo is from Google images. Just could feel how pleasant the home must be in summers. :)

@gargipalaskar Feel like “bestseller” has more to do with reach than quality these days.

Here's an instant life improvement hack. Stop watching the personal lives of people on social media and start reading / learning about the secrets of the universe, or biology, or any deep science. You will be in awe of the world that you're part of. You will feel good about consuming something of substance instead of feeling terrible after comparing your life to someone else's who is also feeling terrible comparing their life to someone else's. Break the loop.

@markmeyourze Same here. My dad wakes up at 5 for work, still makes tea and breakfast before my mom leaves at 7. He never called it anything, he just did it.

My dad has been making tea and breakfast for himself and my mom every morning for years, then quietly leaving for work so my mom can sleep a little longer. So when people debate the bare minimum, I just remember what I grew up seeing.

considering how radically software is evolving with ai, everything we normalised for decades is gonna be so outdated. explaining any of this to future generations is gonna sound like my dad describing a rotary phone which feels so inefficient in hindsight

Design Twitter will have you thinking you need to know Framer, Webflow, Spline, Rive, After Effects, Figma, and three coding languages to be a “real” designer A client just needs you to solve their problem and make it look good. that’s it.

With AI the cost of raw intelligence has collapsed, but the cost of applied judgment hasn't. Your curiosity determines your ceiling. The margin now lives in curiosity, taste and judgment.
