@swyx @tailwindcss And the best part of that kind of concise exposure? You can take that knowledge OUTSIDE of tailwind if you want to. I can take the knowledge I’ve gained on flex box and add it to a separate non-tailwind project and it works. That’s just how good they’ve made it.

@swyx @tailwindcss I discovered it about 2 months ago and I’ve been 🤯 ever since. One of the major “sealing the deal” features of tailwind is that it exposes you to immensely useful css concepts/strategies in an easy to understand context when combined with their stellar documentation. 💯

The @tailwindcss space-x utility is the best thing to happen to CSS Layout since Grid, dont sleep on it

@florinpop17 Find a space/niche in automating the most manual parts of design to development. Make the by products of said venture standalone SaaS for double leverage. If you like product A, you’ll most like buy product B (synergy) Rinse and repeat till not viable. I’m at repeat stage 😅

@swyx Valid to ask. I thought the last job was “the last job”, but everything has changed since the pandemic. Pragmatically I think I have one more “employer” left in the tank but I’m committing to launching two SaaS before I go back.

for what its worth: I ask because I'm on my 2nd or 3rd "last job". I'm enjoying it, paycheck is addictive as heroin, but also working for/with others diffuses responsibility and there's some strange psychological block to my creativity when anyone can veto me

Just curious: those of you who are employees — how many more employers do you think you will work for in your career? (traditional fulltime employment setup)

@florinpop17 Possible nightmare fuel question. By the time I like what I have at the end of the design process, I feel half the time before I’m bored is gone 😭

@swyx @tailwindcss I’m going to settle down and read this in detail. But Having used it in 3 projects and rewriting a plugin in tailwind it confirms what I already knew: I’m never going back. Extra plus for the stellar developer adoption leadership (is that a thing?) they have put in their docs.

My take on Why @TailwindCSS: swyx.io/why-tailwind/ Probably obvious to experts, but it's the top organic Google result for "Why Tailwind" now. I think more people should write straightforward "Why X" or "What is X" posts. You don't always have to write earthshattering theses.

Can someone please explain the benefits of tailwind CSS? 🤔 Feel like I just don't get the hype 🔥 I've used it multiple times and find it so messy 😅

@swyx Pretty hard balance to do when one also has to hold out space for genuine belief in what they are doing. However I’ve found that reality does a great job dispelling such a complex should they get to launch. Success? Their ideas got validated. Silence? Complex dispelled

Resist the inner superiority complex. Anyone can imagine their ideas are better than the popular mediocrity. Few actually prove it.

@volkandkaya @dannypostma Is there a place to subscribe for updates when you launch this? Or following you would suffice for now?

@dannypostma I'm hoping to build this (a marketplace). Already got blocks, templates and smaller components like navbars, tabs, modals. Talking with a few amazing template builders with the goal of being able to import their code as well.

Does this exist? 🤔 Marketplace to buy individual components with HTML&CSS. Not a full kit. Individual UI items. Like TailwindUI, but as marketplace.

What's your long weekend side project? (it's 200% ok to not have any) me, I'm resolving to finally move my site to SvelteKit + @supabase_io and implement the dozens of tiny features I've wanted for forever 🙇‍♂️

@swyx I have a subscription for premium features (like being able to preview what you select before exporting), but the endgame is autolayout support (responsive) and direct to framework export. But for now it's free I have a proof of concept on the later here audacitus.com/bulma-editor/

ATTN: Micro-SAAS & No-Code Founders Force your way to $10,000 MRR before building anything else. New features don't create new MRR. Focus on the ONE THING you help people do better. Get to $10,000 MRR. Then you have cashflow + leverage to scale/build/expand.

@NehemiahKiv Google’s “Material You”. Companies are already spinning their own inspired take of the design system into their own products. Great leverage of trending events in the UI space in specific ways

@swyx Extra points for typing a fair size of code very quickly and then waiting for all the colors of the linting error rainbow to show before it realized that everything was Gucci from the get go.

I don't believe that form input validity is boolean. There should be at least 3 states: - Valid - Invalid - I literally just started typing, can you at least wait until I'm done before you yell at me

@Coding_Career @swyx Ok. So if for example I were to write an article about coding a web builder, it’s best to focus on how I personally tackled the challenges and my personal conclusions/advice instead of just compiling a set of articles?

@audacitus @swyx yes, it's a problem when some people present themselves as an expert when they just spent a short amount of time reading up and have no practical experience - so responsible disclosure is a key part of Learning in Public!
