stop comparing off campus and heated rivalry. their only real similarities are that they’re both based on books, and both involve hockey. that’s it. heated rivalry is about queerness in the sports world: being gay in a hypermasculine environment, having to hide, the pressure, the fear, and the difficulty of existing openly. off campus has its own themes, but it’s not telling the same story at all. the tone, the stakes, the message, and the conflicts are completely different. so reducing both to “hockey romance” is lazy. they’re not the same thing, and the comparison makes no sense.
