@AuroraGov I created an account to make a complaint about a business violating code. It said I had to verify my email - found the email but no ability to verify it without installing another junk app on my phone How would you suggest someone like my dad do this on his flip phone?

We're joining the East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) team in celebrating the start of BRT construction in Aurora this Friday, May 1. We're kicking things off with a groundbreaking at 10 a.m. along Colfax on the front lawn of the Martin Luther King Jr. Library, followed by an evening premiere of "Destination Colfax," a short film featuring the unique and storied history of travel, transit and life along the iconic avenue. We hope you'll come out to the Aurora Cultural Arts District for First Friday and stop by the film premiere event anytime between 5:30 and 8 p.m. at the Aurora Fox Arts Center, 9900 E. Colfax Ave. We'll have showings of this 10-minute film at 6 and 7 p.m., plus a panel discussion with local historians at 6:30 p.m. and a history walking tour at 7:15 p.m. If you plan to attend, RSVP at bit.ly/4cHStle to let us know. Check out the film trailer for a snippet of what to expect: youtube.com/watch?v=r_SwbB… The East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit will run from Denver Union Station in Denver to the R Line Light Rail Station in Aurora at I-225. The BRT will operate in dedicated center-running lanes from Broadway to Yosemite in Denver and in mixed flow, or side-running lanes, in Aurora from Yosemite to I-225. The project includes new and enhanced transit stations, service amenities, improved pedestrian and bike connections, and placemaking opportunities. Upon implementation, the project will provide more reliable and frequent bus service, arriving every 4.3 minutes during the day, reduce transit travel time by 15 to 30 minutes, provide more affordable and reliable access to over 250,000 jobs and community services along the corridor, enhance comfort and safety, and create exciting streetscape, placemaking and economic development opportunities. To find out more, visit DenverGov.org/ColfaxBRT. [Graphic description: The words Destination Colfax on a dark, blurred background scene of Colfax Avenue]

The Human Relations Commission plays a unique and important role in the city of Aurora. The commission is tasked with helping promote mutual understanding and respect among all people, fostering relationships, and giving back to the city of Aurora community through service and programming. Volunteer members do this by organizing events and distributing information aimed at eliminating prejudice, promoting human relations and investigating community complaints that run counter to these goals in hopes of helping the community come together. Right now, this commission welcomes applications for new commissioners. To apply please visit AuroraGov.org/Boards.

It's time to replace the aging Peoria Street bridge over Sand Creek and make this route safer and better for travelers, including adding another travel lane in each direction to match the rest of Peoria Street and improving access for pedestrians and bicyclists. Review the proposed design and provide input on this critical infrastructure project by May 11. Visit EngageAurora.org/PeoriaBridge for details. The Peoria Street Bridge Replacement Project aligns with the city's well-managed and healthy community strategic outcomes. The project will not move forward to construction until the design is complete and funding is secured. Improvements are coming to the South Gartrell Road Bridge over E-470 in southeast Aurora! The project will expand the existing two-lane bridge to a four-lane section with turn lanes, plus add multimodal improvements and new traffic signals. Construction will take about a year, and travel impacts will be posted at AuroraGov.org/Gartrell. Starting May 11, lanes will be shifted to the south side of the bridge and narrowed on South Gartrell Road from East Dry Creek Road to South Aurora Parkway, with shoulders closed on both sides of the road. Please use caution and slow down when moving through the construction zone. The South Aurora Regional Improvement Authority is providing 80% of the construction funding, with @E470 contributing the remaining 20% of funding. This project is building critical infrastructure that aligns with the city's well-managed and healthy community strategic outcomes. Find out more about our work to develop long-term solutions to ensure safe, adequate, and well-maintained infrastructure at EngageAurora.org/BuildUpAurora. Data centers currently make up a very small portion of Aurora’s overall water demand, about 0.25% of total system use. The biggest factor influencing water use at these facilities is the type of cooling technology they use, and many newer designs are moving toward systems that significantly reduce water consumption. Aurora Water uses a Large Water Users Guide that outlines the criteria for evaluating allowable commercial and industrial water use.
