It’s not the trucks that are the issue - it’s the infrastructure and extra time they consume. Many trucks run 24hrs a day, EV’s can’t do that yet. Also every charge point needs millions of dollars worth of substations, buffering batteries and high voltage lines connected to deliver the amount of power required. The average semi has ~1000L of fuel on them (1200-2000km range), the long/heavy haul ones have 2000+L. For the heavy haul trucks they can use 200L+ per 100km. Electric isn’t going to cut it, a Tesla semi would need a recharge every 1-1.5hours.

many argue that #EV trucks wont work for longer haul, even though some are now capable of 500Km or more at GVM. saying charge times are to long for the industry, reality is, Accountants will make the call, and if an EV truck can save them $5K in fuel per trip, it will happen.

Yeah the Brazil round was announced jul 2025, however Goiania wasn’t announced till dec 2025. Have to wonder what happened in those 5 months, only left them 3 months to get the track ready. That being said donnington park, brands hatch and others have been resurfaced in around 3 weeks, so it could have been possible.

@matoxley The short timeframe for delivering an event for 150,000 people, and an event of MotoGP's importance, is unacceptable. I'm sure Australia, or any other place, wouldn't dedicate as much time to it. Let's tone down the criticism; this was just the beginning.

Two months ago #MotoGP announced that Phillip Island will lose the Australian Grand Prix, because the much-loved venue’s infrastructure isn’t up to the high standards required by Liberty Media. Welcome to Goiânia! motorsportmagazine.com/articles/motor…

I am worried for the proposed Adelaide street circuit. If IRTA approved this track as safe when it clearly wasn’t after the moto2 race, then they may also turn a blind eye to issues on a street circuit. Oil from leaky cars seeping up through the track during warmer days is my big worry, as is painting over road markings. Although they may also approve walls being a bit too close like they did at Balaton park.

Not enough power, needs a forklift etc in the field for changes (on unstable ground rather than flat) and the batteries transported too and from wherever they are charged on a regular basis. Still requires a substation to be installed out in the farmland somewhere to charge the batteries and high voltage lines to deliver them power. 2x 310kWhr batteries, that means they need changing every 2.5hours. So 6+ times a day at 3-4min a side if everything is ready to go. So 45min lost, not including moving the combine to and from where the batteries can be installed, likely well over an hour per day lost. 2 person operation multiple times a day. Diesel will be fuelled once every day or two - they have 1000-1800L. 14-26hrs worth. So only need a two person operation once a day. They weigh 2T each, so the combine weight will be higher too. These things look good to the average person, but we have to do the maths to see if they are truely viable. We are not there yet - unfortunately getting battery density up isn’t happening as quickly as we would like. Reality is they need to be ~4x the current power density for heavy haulage and farming operations to become viable.

i get told a lot EVs wont work for trucks, they drive between cities, they do, vast majority of truck trips never leave the urban environment. If we can make this fleet #EV, there will be more than enough fuel left for the long haul uses, and farms. Cities will be far cleaner.

Ok now get the thing running near constantly for 16hours a day for 2-3weeks straight. That is the challenge. The average combine uses 70L diesel per hour - about 750kW/hr or energy. Given the electric efficiency benefit - we need 250kW/hr every hour. So for 16 hrs we need 4GWhr of electricity. So about 1 tesla megapack - they are 9m x 1.65m x 2.8m (40T) Then we need every farm to be able to charge this bad boy in 8hours - drawing a continuous 500kW. (Well 550 inc charging efficiency) So we need a substation and high voltage connections to every farm. Maybe we halve the size of the battery and swap the batteries out? Well now we need another truck and equipment to move the battery as each one weighs almost 10T… Swap the battery 4-5 times? Now we start really eating into productivity.

Australian PM Anthony Albanese has said we need to be "vigilant" against people who "want to turn back the clock" to a pre-diversity Australia. Do these politicians forget who they are working for? We're sick of seeing our country turn into a third-world dumping ground.

Can you imagine if a brown or black woman asked for a predominantly white city be bombed? This is utterly disgusting.

@matoxley I thought ERTA was supposed to consider safety above all else? Surely that was too high a risk?

Closing stages of the Moto2 race and it's just about possible to see where the asphalt was breaking up between Turns 11 and 12. Running #MotoGP isn't easy but it's not acceptable to have the track falling apart - sink hole and everything - and a panic race-distance cut minutes before today's start. Amateur hour!

So the town of Coober Pedy had its usual polling station shut down for this election. The town was not adequately notified and most residents missed the early voting period. Great work @AusElectoralCom A town missed its one chance in 3 years to participate in the state democracy.

@QuentinDempster This sort of lie told by the left is exactly why you are losing the trust of the Australian public The more you lie and the more you double down on those lies, the more people you lose and the more One Nation and other parties gain. Keep up the good work.

If Pauline Hanson gets anywhere near the levers of legislative power in SA or nationally, she will deregulate Australia’s guns. The risk of infecting Australia with American gun culture is too great - school/mass shootings are a weekly occurrence in the US. Voters: please note!
