Got permission to share the shots i worked on for "Return to Silent Hill". Even though they didn't make the final cut, i had a lot of fun working on these and I'm pretty happy with the work i did. Not bad for my first big Professional gig haha!
truly beautiful to see all the hard word behind every scene! this one's always been one of my favorites (i especially love the detail of Nick grabbing Judy's ear!)
it was animated by the incredibly talented Chatrasal Singh (@/chatsartbook on instagram)
AWP Reload+Fire
Been 2 years since I animated a sniper rifle. It was fun to revisit a prop I don't usually go for!
Animated in around 10 hours

@SXR123 yee its pretty much gambling. then they hit you with the fomo as incentive to spend money
the happy strat for me is to skip the weapons/chars i dont want and focus on bringing chars to the roster because id rather enjoy a new gameplay skillset instead of a statpad
Posting this response here because I want to complain about Hoyo's gacha. Long post incoming:
The biggest thing for me is actually hoyo's pity system (basing this off of ZZZ's gacha for now) being frustrating and designed to whittle you down.
90 pulls for a guaranteed S tier and a 50/50 chance of the one on the banner If you roll any S tier within those 90 pulls, that counts for your 50/50. If you fail the 50/50, you're guaranteed to roll them on the next S tier you get.
This sounds great—right up until I realize I very rarely roll any S tier within the first 60 or 70 rolls. This is by design as apparently the base rate is 0.6% and soft pity after 70 rolls is 6.6%. I'm always whittling down my reserves to roll what I want because the first 70 rolls are BY DESIGN there drain your resources.
So the loop goes: waste 70+ rolls, roll an S tier. Fail 50/50? No problem, now it's guaranteed. Just waste 70 more rolls until you roll the S-tier. Run out of resources? don't worry, getting it free in game is easy. You're 70+ rolls in and are in soft pity, you KNOW you're gonna get it. You just need a few more rolls. Then you finally do it, you roll the banner S tier character. Minimum 140 rolls unless you get REAL lucky.
Now do all of that again for the wengine (75/25 rate here. Only failed that 3 times in a row.).
All of Hoyo's gacha (And Wuwa) operate similarly from what I've heard, but I haven't played them. The fact that it's designed to whittle away your saved up resources until a few rolls before the guarantee annoys the hell out of me.
The fact that it's also split between the banner character and their wengine, which isn't a requirement to use them but is necessary to make the character reach their full potential flat out pisses me off.
If you fail the 50/50, you know you're going to get the character/wengine so you keep rolling and wasting despite the fact that you know it's coming. The game is literally dangling the character in front of you until it decides you've rolled enough to give it to you after you fail the 50/50.
It doesn't feel like a gacha it feels like purchasing the character with a hundred extra steps.
In FGO, you pull the character once and you're good to go. You're welcome to roll for another one to make their NP stronger, but it's almost never necessary. It doesn't tease you with X number of rolls until maybe you get it or maybe you don't (failing the 50/50).
In FGO, if I decide I've rolled enough and haven't gotten the character, there's nothing to tease me or goad me into rolling more. There's no 50/50 to fail so I don't feel compelled to continue at the thought of "almost got it." and not wanting to waste what I've spent. I'm annoyed I didn't get what I want, but that's just how it is.
@kevinwkoch For sure, in hindsight maybe it wasn't the best moment to place it. I stand by it's execution theoretically but maybe not the choice to have it at all. Still I wouldn't jump to the conclusion its AI without first doing the research
