@JAGNY_1987 You absolutely can be successful at both. I find it harder to watch folkstyle with the reaction time 😂😂 it’s ridiculous
English

@austingomez65 That’s fair. I definitely won’t argue with you on that. I just find it hard watching the Freestyle matches at times getting points for push outs. I feel like it’s more of a brute match vs style. That being said, you could be successful in both as we’ve seen.
English

@adamtirapelle Totally agree. I was always more banged up during my folkstyle career besides my recent injury lol.
English

I think too Austin it's the fact that it's at the end of a long season and everyone is at minimum banged up with many having legit injuries. So you're trying to perform at your peak while many times not being at your physical peak. I would guess most guys going into Worlds/Olympics are a LOT fresher. And everyone who's wrestled knows that folkstyle is a lot more physically grinding than international wrestling styles. Just trying to describe the experience for those that haven't had the fortune to partake 😉
English

It's one of one. Doesn't mean the wrestlers at the Worlds or Olympics aren't more skilled, just that folkstyle wrestling over 3 days in this atmosphere at the highest level at the end of the season is something that provides a challenge unlike anything else in the world. ❤️💪

There is nothing like the NCAA tournament. Worlds is cool, the Olympics is cool, but NCAAs is DIFFERENT. I truly believe some of the best foreigners in the world couldn’t handle the NCAA tournament.
English

@austingomez65 It’s a different style of wrestling. It’s way more technical than freestyle or grecco. I wish we could see some of the top guys in the world wrestle here in folk.
English

@1Nokhchuo_ Okay. Let’s see the best wrestlers in the world train folkstyle for 2-3 years and see how they do. Foreigners cry when they get clubbed too hard can’t imagine what they would do in folkstyle. I’m not saying folkstyle is better, I’m team freestyle but they couldn’t do it.
English

@austingomez65 It would be fun to see a world folk style tournament

Kicking off my series of throwback NCAA matches leading up to 26’ NCAAS, is Caleb Henson (VT) winning the 149 bracket in 2024!
Henson became the second individual national champion in VT history, joining current teammate and 2019 National Champion at 165 pounds Mekhi Lewis.
The Hitman, overcame an early deficit to storm back for a 15-7 major decision win over No. 6 Austin Gomez of Michigan in the championship match at 149 pounds.

@T_Ram133 @Sean_Bormet @TrophySmack Yeah but you’re a little bit of an old timer, Tony 😭 maybe they say yes to mr
English

As a past big ten champ I want that belt. I’ll send the big ten my address to send me one or I’ll find another year of eligibility somewhere. Right? @Sean_Bormet

I am doing good. Got another concussion. I shouldn’t have went back out the first time I went unconscious but the competitor wants to win. I’m at home with my wife and kid and recovering. Just putting my focus on getting healthy and getting to the bottom of this. Thanks to all who reached out. Appreciate the wrestling community ❤️

@austingomez65 @GlobalWresOrder Wish you both well.
Austin, are you willing to share what happened?
Thanks for scaring the sh!t out of us.

Another year another injury. I don't know if I'll be back this time, but I'll do my very best. I love this sport and everything about it, l've pushed my body to its limits for a long time, and up to now there's very few things I'd go back and change. 1/2
