3X obesity rates in 35 years… But what’s the CAUSE? A common sense thread on why the US gov. doesn’t care and why your health is on you🧵

4:00 am: Fed the baby. Now I’m starving. But not really. It’s an acute hunger signal because I’m at peak cortisol (sleep deprived + awake too early). New parents fall into this trap. I get it. I want to eat my fist, but it’ll pass. And I’ll save the 500 calories for later.

@RyanHoliday Is there anyone in your comments not using AI to reply? Like, do you have conversations with actual people? Genuine question, not a criticism.

Don't wait. Don't tell yourself you'll warm up to it. Don't tell yourself you'll get this other stuff out of the way and then... No. Do it now.

No matter how big your arms get please move your arms when you walk. There is a guy at my gym who is fairly jacked who walks around like he has a coat hanger under his shirt. Never spoke to him before but just by the way he walks around with his chin sticking up…arms and chest all puffed out walking around the gym like he owns the place…every time I see him, I just want to punch him in the face. Personally just not a fan of this look at all. No matter how muscular I get, I ways want to look like an athlete who can move and do things. Not the wanna be tough guy, bb’er look walking around with stiff arms in a tank top, a hairy back and a 1 gallon water jug. Always better to be unassuming and inconspicuous IMO.

There is a powerful phrase that echoes through the pages of the Bible over 200 times: "The Lord was with him." We see it in the life of Joseph while he was in a prison cell. With Moses before the Red Sea. With David in the heat of battle and with Joshua at the edge of the Promised Land. But here is the truly remarkable part: Other people noticed. The presence of God was not a private secret or a hidden feeling. It was a visible reality that caught people's attention and changed the atmosphere around them. When you are planted in the house of the Lord and truly flourishing, God's presence in your life becomes just as undeniable. Your life is the primary evidence of God's goodness, nearness, and power. When you carry peace while the world around you is in chaos, people start to wonder, "How?" When you maintain your integrity under intense pressure, they ask, "Why?" When you hold onto joy in the middle of hardship, they realize, "Something is different here." Numbers 14:14 captures this beautifully..."They have heard that You, Lord, are among these people and that You, Lord, are seen face to face." Your life is meant to be a bridge between the seen and the unseen. Ask yourself this question today: If someone followed me around for an entire week, would they conclude that the Lord is with me? Your planted life is proof that God is real. Live like it today.

Mother’s Day isn’t a fun one for those of us estranged from our parents. I’m going on 15 years on & off (mostly off) with mine for a whole host of reasons. If you’re motherless today: - go find some exercise - make social plans (and don’t get discouraged if people have plans, keep asking!) - stay off social media - do your favorite thing in the world, spend some extra money if ya need to

Being a parent has radicalized me for all the mothers on Mother’s Day. Flowers and chocolate are cool. But moms REALLY like: - Parental leave (more than 2-3 weeks) - Good, affordable or subsidized childcare - Affordable prenatal/postnatal care - Specialists not booked 3 months out - Clean places to feed/change diapers - Insurance covers feminine products - Insurance covers literally anything - Men who advocate for women-only spaces - Men who empathize with what a working mom has to handle (pumping, childcare, postpartum, etc.) - Federal programs that actually did the job they’re supposed to do You know, things that would actually incentivize more people in general to become moms and dads… For now, she’ll settle for a sweet day in the park, extra nap time, Costco rotisserie chicken, a fat bouquet of flowers, and an even fatter glass of wine. Happy first Mother’s Day to my wife and all the amazing moms out there!

@bowtiedmeathead The stares I got in Costco walking through with my daughter in my arms today confirms this. I got glances before having a kid. Today I got glares. Keep mogging.

I like to believe that is true but found the opposite to be the case The average guy who is fat and unhappy with how he looks and feels resents guys who are in good shape and cares about looking good. People find reasons in their mind to not like people who are not like them. It’s human nature and it goes both ways. When I see someone who is very overweight and “sloppy looking” I have a hard time overlooking what I see as a lazy and mentally weak person who lacks discipline and will power. I know they view most fit guys are “dumb” muscle heads who obsess over themselves and spends all their time working out and staring in the mirror. While you would think normies respect you for being in shape and fit, hate to tell you but most are haters and don’t like you the minute they meet you.
Ed Latimore@EdLatimore

People respect you more when you're in shape. Especially your kids. That should be enough for every dad to make time for weight lifting amd cardio.
