21st March marks the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Austria fights against racism through our work with the UN, the EU's Fundamental Rights Agency, the Council of Europe's ECRI, and the OSCE, as well as our investment in education and integration.

Happy International Women’s Day! 👭 To mark the occasion, we’re speaking with Katharina Rauscher, Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in London, about women in diplomacy and the importance of representation in global decision-making.

International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a moment to recognise the progress still to be made. Today, like every day, EU Ambassadors in the UK stand united for the rights of all women and girls.

The people of Iran deserve freedom and the right to determine their own democratic path. The regime in Tehran has been suppressing its own population for years and systematically violating human rights. I have consistently made this criticism clear and have advocated for decisive sanctions. At the same time, I am deeply concerned about a further erosion of the international order and the risk of a military escalation spiral. This would endanger stability and security throughout the entire region and beyond. I therefore urgently call for de-escalation and for the respect of the territorial integrity of all states in the region. To this end, I am in close contact with my counterparts in Europe as well as in the region, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. There is now an urgent need for swift diplomatic efforts toward de-escalation.

Austria 🇦🇹 strongly condemns the unprovoked attacks against Bahrain 🇧🇭 , Iraq 🇮🇶 , Jordan 🇯🇴 , Kuwait 🇰🇼 , Oman 🇴🇲 , Qatar 🇶🇦 , Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 , and the UAE 🇦🇪 . We call on Iran to immediately stop these violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries in the region. We further condemn Iran‘s indiscriminate attacks against Israel 🇮🇱 .
