@philkinsella I wonder if 2 clubs could be given the opportunity to forego the chance to appear at Magic to do Vegas instead. Then they can play this their round 3 fixture instead of Magic. No club loses their home fixture then.

It’s a very difficult one, no one doubts the attraction of going there, but if people ask for clubs to show responsible financial management then theyve got to accept that for some it’s not affordable. Last year Warrington went as the away team and fully supported the event 1/2

@JackieChan87805 @AaronBower I heard that if Leeds had given up a home game for Vegas, doing so would have cost the club over £300,000. That's before the losses associated with travelling to Vegas. Most clubs cannot afford to lose that amount of income just for the fans to have a jolly.

@BornVikings_ @jdgsport Yeah I saw that one. Also, I just dont understand how clubs in general saw that the way the fixture lists were decided was acceptable at all. There's no integrity unless everybody plays each other at least once.

@ausvik @jdgsport Tim Holmes said in a Q&A that the board did challenge a few of the preliminary fixtures and as a result some were changed. But it’s still incredibly frustrating.

@Ca11um95 @TheRFL Their directors let their fans and the town down. It has nothing to do with the RFL.

@SteveMascord Im not sure that means theres only money for one division. IMO, that's nonsense and claimS like these weaken ambition & the pull for investment. Realism suggests that theres not enough money to sustain clubs as they are, so clubs should cut costs and amend as necessary.

These things are happening by attrition. That's how it will continue to happen.
Mark Austin@ausvik

@SteveMascord Isn't that for the people running the clubs to decide? Should Batley and Dewsbury (etc) be community clubs just because they might not have ambitions of SL and just because of the mis-management at other clubs? Should York & Bradford have become community clubs when they folded?

@Fev_Talk The only thing the RFL have got wrong is not having a mechanism to name sure clubs are run prudently. Other than that, it is the club ownership who take full responsibility for financial mismanagement. It is not the RFLs job to prop clubs up and clean up their mess.

It’s getting more and more obvious by the day that the RFL do not give a fuck in the world about teams outside of the Super League. First Salford, then Featherstone, now Halifax. ALL IN THE SPACE OF A YEAR. This sport is run by corrupt bastards and needs a total refresh!

@Baynesi83 @AaronBower No, it means they have a realistic budget and generate income to reflect it. If they can't service that then that's just how it goes. But they must be able to pay HMRC as a minimum. If doing this means they have limited success then so be it.

@ausvik @AaronBower Living within their means would mean that some clubs would have to no pay some of their players.

@AaronBower It's very sad... But inevitable. Having 34 pro/semi pro teams is simply not sustainable for a sport as small as rugby league. Natural selection is taking place. The sport can simply not distribute enough central distribution money between 34 clubs.

Thoughts on the @TheChallengeCup possibly being moved from Wembley? Where would you like to see it played instead? Should it have a permanent home or move around venues like the Super Bowl does?

@jdgsport Can you remember how the win percentage thing worked? Seems like another way in which Widnes lose out.

Wow. This is a disaster. Particularly for Featherstone's fans. But now 12 clubs due to play them all lose a home game. However, it is probably the right call in terms of integrity and precedence. Can't just allow clubs to write off debts and re-enter as if nothing has happened.

Two forward signings announced in the Championship tonight. Widnes Vikings sign Jack Houghton from North Wales. Goole Vikings sign Liam Watts, formerly of Hull. Think Goole (like Newcastle) might well benefit from the fixture format and push for play-offs.
