My hometown in Ilaje, Ondo state practiced communism in the 70's. A young man who had studied engineering in West Germany came back home, became the king and started communism. The community owned the means of production and there was no private property. In the community there was a dockyard for making boat. Technical college, Carpentry workshop, textile and shoemaking plant. The community owned fishing trawlers and outboard vessels for ferrying goods and passengers to Lagos (Epe), Delta, Gabon and Cameroon. As the human population of our small little town on the edge of the Atlantic ocean increased, the community was unable to provide for the people as production could not match the birth rate and new entrants into the town. The king eventually reversed his decision and ended communism. A Canadian researcher, Stanley Barrett who visited during the time wrote a book called, The Rise and Fall of an African Utopia.

The thing about communism is nobody shows you where to go and see anything for yourself. They just tell you to read and believe. It’s like religion in that way.

A product can be technically superior in every way. But if there’s friction, confusion, or a learning curve, it’s already dead before launch. In tech, usability beats perfection every single time.

Courtesy demands one of you go say thank you to them. @authority_joel and I were at a cafeteria one morning, we had two coffee (€1.50 each). When I asked for the bill, the waiter said the Latina lady in the corner had paid. I went to her to say muchas gracias and we exited after. Nigerian men are notorious for weaponizing money. It is widely reflected in our perverse dating culture and all the women showing their husbands shege once they immigrate to the UK, Canada and US is a symptom of that underlying problem and power structure.

“My sister and I once went to a restaurant in Ikoyi, Lagos. When we asked for the bill, the waiter told us that some gentlemen had already paid for our meal. We looked at them, nodded and say thank you. We stayed a few more minutes to take pictures, but about 10 minutes later, the waiter returned and said the men wanted us to pay the bill ourselves since we didn’t come over to their table. Men can be funny. They try to weaponize their provision. We’re not even broke.” — Lady says.

A few weeks ago, I started working on a mobile app that is now in Apple TestFlight, with more than 20 beta testers participating. The Android beta version should be ready next week as I continue to collect feedback and actively address any issues.

@avogroovy @authority_joel The only problem is City’s consistency. They don’t have it in them to go on a winning run.
