@DeganKatz @rebeccalehmann @clhubes I think what I mean is how some GP proponents discourage parents from saying to their children, "You upset me" because they don't want children to feel responsible for their caregiver's emotions. Which I do understand. But there is a line, and I think it is no bad thing for a...

@st0pbeingahater @naomicfisher Yes I am not saying I would have done the same. However, we all make the wrong judgement call sometimes! I certainly do. We don't know much apart from what OP said and judging does feel slightly uncomfortable to me.

@autumnalmost @naomicfisher In this circumstance that doesn’t apply. The boy knew the mom could afford another one but she deliberately refused to give the boy another bun. That’s what was upsetting to him he was being punished for something out of his control. That’s heartbreaking for a child & adults too

A Tale of Everyday Parenting When I arrived in the bakery queue there was a small boy standing alone in front of me. He was crying. His parents were standing awkwardly nearby. ’Go ahead’ the mother said to me. Then she said to the man, “I’ll handle this, see you at home” 1/

@BraaiKing_Bad Everything is normal. Travelling is normal. Not travelling is also normal. Whatever you value is normal. Just because you travel doesn't mean you've experienced life. If you look closely, you can experience life deeply wherever you are.

@BraaiKing_Bad It depends what you value in life. I live close to where I grew up but I went away to university and lived away for 6 years. I feel hugely privileged to now live close to family who want to be part of my own childrens' lives. I didn't have that as a child.

I've now reached the stage of life where I think buying a Mr Darcy fridge magnet is quite understandable really.

I've reached the stage of life where I find the models in the Go Outdoors catalogue more attractive than "famous" people.

@mom_needsalife Hahaha the idea that making something fun and engaging stops tantrums is just hilarious. Have they ever met a child?

Wrote something about a toddler having a tantrum at a store & a mom commented that toddlers shouldn’t have to endure trips to a store & that if moms made it fun & engaging tantrums wouldn’t happen. I can only assume that this “mom’s” kids are imaginary.

@WhistleblowingT ...we all know what a huge difference consistent adults make in the lives of children, especially in the early years at home. What are we even doing teaching if we don't believe this?!

@WhistleblowingT As a teacher, I fully expect the parents of ch I teach to be involved, attend parents evening, etc. Parental engagement is such a huge benefit for kids! Would be concerned about a school that didn't accommodate their own staff with this...

Fully in spooky season here. My son, who is nearly six, has been obsessed with Halloween since he was two. Yday I found him looking in the tupperware drawer, and he said, "Mummy, I need a pot for my ghost samples." 👻

@Strickomaster @CherylLeeAssoc Good idea in some ways. However....I work Monday-Wednesday (primary) and I always check my emails on Sunday evenings so I can mentally prepare myself for what I'm going in to on Monday morning! I also sometimes work while my daughter is at nursery on a Thursday.

some of us catch up on the wkend bc we want to be there at school pick up until bedtime and it’s possible to get some cover on the weekend - why judge? Why not accept that in an agile world, people work when THEY want to work, not when some outdated model tells them to. 1/2

Also I think there are lots of people around who personally I wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of, but there are very few people who are actually verbally abusive towards small children. I just find it quite scary that there are people who are 😔

I've had a fair few run-ins with people being aggressive or overly harsh of me being in public spaces with my children and it is really horrible. Like, I'm really trying to teach them right from wrong but they are small and still learning and no one is perfect.
