Obsession was bad because the girl gets possessed by the wish-demon like 20 min in. barely any time spent characterizing her and then she just goes crazy. some of the crazy stuff is fun but mostly just felt cruel at her character’s expense with no meaning behind it. very empty

there is very clear meaning in the cruelty. nikki was stripped of all autonomy at the hands of a selfish man. if you couldn’t sympathize with nikki in those 15-20 minutes we got with her, that’s a you problem tbh

Hmmm, with all due respect I don't remember seeing you on set. When I was there, Kane was 100% in control. More so than many directors 3x his age.

Renate Reinsve says she felt very safe working on the ‘BACKROOMS’ movie because of how detailed Kane Parsons was with developing the film. “He had a world of deep references to what exactly he specifically wanted, like even the wires [in certain shots].”
