When Alexis Lafrenière was drafted first overall back in 2020, he was supposed to be the finishing touch on a multi-year rebuild. Instead, impatient ownership and Tom Wilson sped that clock up. Lafrenière played the least average time on ice of any first overall pick post 2010 in their first five NHL seasons

@averyzaretsky @NickZararis We've been called idiots for years. All one had to do was check TOI. He had 41 EV points last year on a bad team. Stutzle had 46 with way more playing time. Everyone said I was crazy to compare them.

Someone finally did it. I have been trying to tell people for years how deprived Alexis Lafreniere has been.
How do you expect a guy to put up 70-80 points a year with half the average power play time?

I don’t even want to take a victory lap on Laf anymore. It’s just sad people wanted to give up on a 24 year old who’s been deprived of PP1 time his entire career and has been in the top 3 5v5 scoring on NYR in the last 4 years
