There have been times when I’ve felt like giving up on my career in esports. When I hosted the Apex Chaos Cup, friends warned me to not watch any of the livestream because of hate comments about my appearance. When I brought SA experiences to the public domain in Sept 2024 with the sole aim of keeping other women safe from predatory behaviour, I received the worse abuse you can possibly imagine in my inbox. I still receive comments calling me a liar, sl*t, or wh*re for publicly talking about SA to this day (thankfully, not as frequently as in the past, but still persisting). However, I have also been able to amplify the voices of others facing injustice. I have told some of the most fantastic stories. I have held companies accountable for their actions and supported communities. As a woman, working in esports and gaming can sometimes feel so hostile. But, every act of support I have received makes that battle feel so damn worth it. Every time I get to interact with, interview, and work with other women in this industry is a blessing and an inspiration. Thank you to everyone who has looked out for me, supported my work, and shown their love. Happy International Women’s Day 💜
