On my app you can view strike zone data from MLB and AAA games (along with FSL, winter ball, and a few others). Here you also view what the strike zone would have looked like if the ABS zone were in place. You'll be surprised by how many calls change! avondice-baseball.vercel.app

Surely the players can see how the strike zone is being called during the game in the dugout? Houston gets it but Boston doesn't.

Calling one post a "negative campaign" when I still showed that Murakami had a 121 wRC+ against high velo is a stretch. You also forgot the post where I pointed out his top 10 HR% and top 5 BB%. I've had "negative campaign" against Bauer, Yamakawa and the Osunas. Not Murakami

@JWonCATCHING The runner initiating contact doesn't turn an otherwise obstruction call into interference. It just makes it not obstruction. Arozarena is out on the tag, not for interference.

New obstruction/interference rule being applied here. Bases loaded two outs 2-2 count & it appears the runner on 1B thinks it’s a 3-2 count. In the ensuing run down the 1st baseman gives the ball up & crosses the base line. The base runner retreats to 1B & makes contact with the 1st baseman.Normally that would be considered obstruction. The new rule says if the runner initiates the contact, it’s interference not obstruction. Still a judgment call.

@jimfurtado Statcast first had the ball as going 424 ft (probably the projected distance of the ball). It was later changed to 385 ft (probably where the ball was actually caught). So they probably know whether the ball hit the catwalk, even though replay had no video to prove it.

@AngelusNovus3 I think challenge rate (and successful challenge rate) is going to be one of those stats that fluctuate wildly (like hitting with RISP, BABIP, etc.). They were great earlier, struggling now. Not to mention umpire accuracy is worse at the start of the season.

It's okay not to understand the specifics behind calculating WAR (Baseball-Reference's explainer page is horrible.). But remember the *concept*: comparing a player to *replacement level*, and this number makes sense.
