The casual hip hop/music person doesn't even know what we just lost...smh. KA was one of the good guys and there aren't many today.

DO NOT LET THE SCHOOL FORGET THIS. WHEN UCSD PRAISES ITS HISTORY OF STUDENT ACTIVISM, REMEMBER — THIS IS HOW THEY RESPONDED.

@ericriveracooks Pop-up grocer, the space, also sucks. A cess-pool for venture capital endorsed garbage and an insult to what pop ups should be.

🎹Tigran Hamasyan’s extraordinary piano concert took place under the wonderful landscapes of the #Syunik region of #Armenia. That was a unique fusion of natural beauty and musical genius, creating an unforgettable experience. 🎥: Vardan Petrosyan

Nothing quite sums up the hegemonic project of covid normalisation, and the total disregard for the lives of the vulnerable necessary to that project, like the last polio survivor living in an iron lung being killed by covid
Kai Kupferschmidt@kakape

So sad to hear that Paul Alexander passed yesterday at age 78 from Covid-19. Paul contracted polio in 1952, when he was just six years old. He ended up in an iron lung and while he could live outside it for extended periods of time he never really left it.

@MeisnerJulianne So cute! He's the best <3 Get a few more (like 6 of them), wrap them in a damp paper towel for a couple weeks and wait for them to sprout, then plant any that do in soil. And setting realistic expectations is important with planting trees from seed

I have many cooking influences, but @ericriveracooks has given me confidence and courage to express myself through food like no one else. Go to his website. Eat his food. Subscribe to his spice cabinet, pasta club, and surprise box. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you.

@ericriveracooks In other words, 1st year med students love freaking out about this. If you want something to freak out about, look at foodborne illness incidence resulting from gross negligence at factory farms. Much bigger contributory to illness than reheating rice.

@ericriveracooks Just want to point out that our best estimates of B cereus incidence in the US is 24k-50k cases per year. For comparison, there are ~14 million cases of foodborne illness reported in the US. Most cases of B cereus are mild (~24 hrs), contributing to underreporting

@ericriveracooks No pic unfortunately: mom's left over dolma, baked in the oven, garlic yogurt sauce, topped with apricot, sour plum and persimmon molasses and walnuts.

2 years ago we were told that ‘living with the virus’ would mean 3,300 new cases a day. Today we are at 964,184 new cases a day. This timeline shows just how Biden's govt used misinformation to convince us to accept being actively disabled en masse. thegauntlet.news/p/how-the-pres…

Glad someone else is also ranting on this topic. What's unfortunate is how much our institutions continue to reward "just doing the analysis," discourage investments in theoretical/substantive thinking, and then complain about lack of innovation.
Justin Feldman@jfeldman_epi

My 'cranky old man' rant is social science and public health PhD programs have gone in an increasingly quant (and decreasingly theoretical/substantive) direction as a way to 'demonstrate value', but then the methods people learn would have been questionable even in like 2005.
