At the panel discussion on “The Role of INGOs in a Dynamic and Changing Sector,” our Executive Director, @FatumaKinsi , underscored that localization must move beyond shifting resources “it is about shifting power and shaping the agenda.” She reflected on the unique role of local actors, stating: “The beauty and power of local actors is that they are part of community structures. They live its challenges, speak its language, and carry its hope.” Fatuma called for partnerships anchored in trust, mutual respect, shared learning, and equitable power balance, stressing: “Only by working together as equal partners can we create change that truly lasts.” She further emphasized that through platforms such as the @KenyaAsal , local voices can influence policy, strengthen coordination, and build resilience in communities facing recurrent droughts, floods, and conflict. #Localization #Partnerships #ASALs #SustainableSolutions

Kenya committed to #SDG169; legal identity for all. Yet, it implements prohibitive practices including ID vetting, corruption & administrative barriers that undermine this pledge. On this #IDDay we call on the government to align its practices with its pledge. #MyIDMyRight #IDDay

This promise of devolution was huge. People believed it would fix many old problems. Yet, the real story has been a mix of good and bad. There are clear wins, but also big problems that have come up. We need to look closely at how this system has worked out.

Devolution 2.0: From Promise to Delivery In Kenyans 2010 Constitution, devolution a heart beat new social contract, was an answer to decades of centralized rule that left too many regions forgotten, too many communities voiceless, too many citizens invisible to their government.

@Kenyans 5. Unjust Taxation & Debt Without Accountability 📈 cost of living rise, taxes choke small businesses, basic services deteriorate 💳 Kenya’s public debt past KSh 11 trillion- Kenyans can't see whats funded. 🚫 Borrowing without accountability is. No impact? audits? dividends?

@Kenyans 4. Extrajudicial Killings & Injustice 💀 Families still seek justice for the disappeared and murdered. Police reforms remain on paper. ⚖️ No meaningful closure, just politicing with no compensation or truth.

@Kenyans 3. Corruption, Cronyism & Impunity 🔁 Govt insiders win tenders, conflict of interest+CDF & insider trading. 💼 Leaders engaging in business with govt = abuse of power & taxpayers’ trust. 🕳️ Investigations into graft stall. Lifestyle audits forgotten. Asset recovery politicized

Kenya’s Gen Z protests left a powerful, layered legacy: lives lost, windows4reform, economic costs, a young generation unwilling to be silenced. Shont it be turning point in state engaging genuinely, both in prosecuting abuses & addressing systemic issues. dialogue not force.

25june Kenya Dancing Unknown Roads We are drums echoing on bridges not yet built, Feet carving rhythms on mist, not stone. Hope wears shoes of borrowed leather, And sings old hymns to unborn dawns. We plant flags on clouds, chase rivers upstream, Naming deserts before rain agree

Provide security. The right to peaceful assembly is enshrined in Kenya’s Constitution. Recent attempts to suppress protests and civic expression are deeply troubling. Silencing citizens undermines democracy. Defend our freedoms—without fear, with resolve. #RightToAssemble #Kenya

Civil society groups (Law Society, KNCHR, Kenya Medical Association) called for calm, dialogue, and rights protection . The mood: fervent, determined youth confronting a heavily securitized, tightly controlled environment.
