@Tesho13 IIRC there were clubs trying to partner with local colleges to get their players admitted & then they’d set aside 4 years in-state tuition for the player. If that’s in place, the kid can chase their dream and if it doesn’t work out they’re 20 years old with college paid for.

@Tesho13 @tesho13 big problem, and often times even worse because they’d get the reserve minimum (~$65k) or straight USL or a USL/MLS hybrid deal.

Something I saw often in MLS. A 17 year old player has two choices 1. Full ride D1 scholarship 2. Pro contract for league min, ~$80k They accept the contract and give up their college eligibility. Two years later, they get cut from the team - left with no savings & no degree.
