Birds of prey moved into my backyard. I think this is a Merlin (Falco columbarius) that preys on small birds. It sure did not long to grab their first meal.

The branches of the thick undergrowth were swaying beside the trail I was walking on. Suddenly two bears popped up, hugged a tree and gave me a curious look. Hyperphagia. Bears are feeding day and night to fatten up before hibernation. Give them space.
