The APC led government is actively building two major gas pipelines across the country, AKK and OB3 with the Nigeria - Morrocco gas pipeline also in the works. AKK to supply the North which had been cut off from gas distribution for since independence. The impact of AKK would be transformational for industries and power plants in the North. The APC government also built NLNG train 7. The Escravos gas pipeline phase 1 was built in 1989 and the phase 2 was built in 2018. Apart from the West African Gas pipeline built in 2008, no government has invested much in gas infrastructure, despite our abundant gas resources. 80% of our power generation comes from gas. PBAT at the NESG summit mentioned that our gas is useless in the ground if we can't push it out. From 1999 to 2015. Nigeria only managed to build one major gas pipeline. There is a reason why some of us won't stay here and argue with ignorant folks or content creators whose only talent was memorising states and capitals like a primary school boy.

There's no need to shalaye, you should not keep running your company with 500 vacancies, hire from abroad. Go to the UK and look for people who match these global standards and pay them. Let's see if you will still advertise entry level roles for N150,000 that you typically will expect your Nigerian applicants to have experience with Google, Microsoft, Facebook and expertise in Go, Rust, and distributed systems architecture using Erlang. These stories often end with wanting Silicon Valley skillsets on an Ikorodu budget.

“I used to feel Nigerians are really bright. We’ve had over 500 vacancies since 2024, and we’re still struggling to find Nigerians to fill those roles. They don’t meet global standards. I blame social media, yahoo and hook up culture..” — Tosin Eniolorunda, Moniepoint CEO

I'm not shutting up anytime soon, foreigners in Nigeria earn way too much for a country that is so poor, & we also face racism, these foreign "experts" are also racist. I have suffered racism from an indian in my own country. He hated Nigerians & didn't like that my English was good and I wasn't scared of him, He called the supervisor whenever he sees me and told him I speak too much English. After working from Monday to Saturday for 15k naira per month. I was 16 then I had to hustle because my parents didn't have much. Nigeria needs to fix up.

Lmao Nigeria companies, will hire foreigners and bring them here, lodge them in VI, cover everything and pay them their global rate. lmao 🤣 wahala for black man ooo 😭

After I raked in N1 billion procurement revenue in 3 years, the company decided to bring a 70yr old Italian to lead business development. His living allowance alone was more than my salary. The guy eventually brought only 7m until they let him go.

At one point Interswitch must have been the biggest tech employer of guys from CU, OAU, FUTA, Unilag and even UI. Dem dey always do alumni for there. Then they slacked, kept their old wages, and weren't flexible. Come see exodus.

Can I let you in on the truth? Many of these unrealistic job expectations from a company like Moniepoint are to make applicants feel “privileged” to be “chosen” despite not “meeting up”. That way, you don’t feel confident enough and are always on your toes. It also gives them a higher hand in negotiation. If Moniepoint has 500 spaces to fill and cannot find in Nigeria, they are the problem. Their process is the problem.

Another reason they think we are not good enough in Nigeria is that they want us to know everything. It's only in Nigeria they will expect some with 1yrs experience to know Docker, Kubernetes, Messaging Queues, and advance DSA before they can employ you.

@egi_nupe God bless you for this there's this case I'm involved in right now it's ordinary delivery gone missing. Literally you will think it's a civil case but after drafting the statement it's was argued under false pretense to defraud a client and it's approaching court app

Recall when I used to say this? Our colleagues are the number one problems we have on this social media. They continue to encourage people to make take such evil actions against others. They colour it with freedom of speech and defamation is not a crime and cyberstalking is unconstitutional. But never for once have they been able to successfully argue such in court. What’s most painful is that these gullible people don’t understand that they are just using them to farm engagement and gain social media popularity. They will be the ones to spend time in prison while these lawyers continue to get more popular.

The supposedly Learned ones amongst us who believe Elumelu us overreacting or should have kept it strictly Civil should check their Call to Bar Certificates and be sure it was issued by the appropriate body. Even a Secondary school student knows that falsifying medical records is forgery and is a criminal offence. How much more accompanying same with a defamatory statement? As Professionals, we should be careful of the advocacy we push.

Companies will first offer Nigerian salary. That will attract application from thousands of unqualified candidates. They will not hire anyone because according to them, Nigerians are not employable. Next, they will adjust the salary to a global standard and target foreigners. Boom! Foreigners get hired. They would turn around and say, “oh, we couldn’t find anyone in Nigeria, we had to hire abroad.” Mothdafvcker, why didn't you post the adjusted salary first? The truth is anyone telling you they can fill 10 - 500 roles from the Nigerian job market is not sincere. They are simply chasing clout, and not serious about hiring anybody. There’s no role you can't find a suitable candidate for in Nigeria if you pay the right amount. People can even leave their existing jobs to work for you if the offer is good.
